Danang University promotes the application of artificial intelligence in university teaching

In order to improve the quality of teaching and learning, member universities of Danang University regularly connect with experts, share knowledge and experience with tutors and students, and enhance the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in research and learning.

Improve teaching effectiveness

In recent times, in addition to the main curriculum, universities have organized seminars and training courses to provide students and lecturers with more information, knowledge and skills related to AI applications. This helps learners have the opportunity to access new technology trends, keeping up with the development of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

Vu Hoang Quan, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Hydraulic Construction, University of Technology (University of Danang), said that through the short-term course, the training program helps students have a new perspective on how to use AI in learning.

If used correctly, AI can accompany students in their learning and personal development. “In addition to using AI to optimize learning, students can use AI to practice presentation skills, critical thinking, and time management more effectively,” Quan shared.

Regularly participating in training as a speaker, Dr. Trinh Cong Duy - lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology said that in order to equip learners with basic knowledge about AI as well as apply AI in learning and research, learners need to understand AI correctly and how to think about effective application in the school environment. AI not only helps students learn faster but also helps develop soft skills such as creativity, critical thinking and problem solving.

However, experts and lecturers also believe that to effectively apply AI, the core thing for students is to be able to master the technology and the situation. Tools can help provide answers, but students need to understand, analyze and apply those answers.

Notably, lecturers of member universities such as the University of Technology, University of Technical Education, etc. are also regularly trained in applying AI in teaching, building and using digital learning materials.

Lecturers are exposed to basic to advanced AI applications in the highereducation environment such as: how to design lectures and assessments with AI; AI supports scientific research; AI & Office 365 - Optimize work management and teaching; how to quickly search and place orders with search engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM...

Accessing AI applications and exploiting digital technology contributes to improving the capacity and awareness of staff, tutors and students, towards building a creative environment that flexibly adapts to development in the digital age.

In the coming time, the school will further strengthen in-depth training activities on AI applications, thereby supporting and promoting staff, tutors and students to improve the quality of teaching, research and university administration.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Vice President of the University of Technology assessed: In the context of the requirement to promote digital transformation and application of information technology, including AI application, it is both an opportunity and a challenge, requiring universities to pioneer innovation to improve the quality of training and scientific research.

To adapt to the trend, the school focuses on training and creating conditions for lecturers to improve their awareness and ability to apply AI in professional work, teaching, and effectively building and exploiting digital learning resources.

Not only approaching AI applications through seminars, talks, and topics, Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology has strategic orientations in training and researching digital technology and AI.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap - Principal of the school said that the Artificial Intelligence Engineering major, which will be recruited by the school from 2021, attracts about 1,000 students each year. With a comprehensive internationalization orientation, the school focuses on linking training with global trends and labor market needs, helping students to be ready to integrate into the global environment right from their school days.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap also proposed cooperation with advanced universities in the world to develop joint degree programs and joint master's and doctoral programs in the fields of AI, big data, and cyber security.
