The first was a squadron of 10 helicopters flying over West Lake towards Ba Dinh Square at 8:00 a.m. on August 24. On the morning of August 24, Hanoi's sky seemed to have a new look when flights from Hoa Lac headed straight to the city center. Against the blue sky of historic Ba Dinh Square, 10 helicopters simultaneously appeared, spreading their wings powerfully, creating a majestic and sacred scene during the practice session to serve the Great Ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2. The formation of Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171 and Mi-172 was arranged in a 1-3-3-3 formation, maintaining an altitude of over 150m while flying.
Not only a technical performance, the image of 10 helicopters simultaneously flying through the wind over Hanoi's iconic buildings has become an unforgettable moment. Helicopter squadron carrying national flag and Party flag flew over Hoang Dieu street. Following the helicopter formation were three CASA transports C-295 and C-212i. After stabilizing their altitude, the Yak-130s joined the formation one by one. This was the first time the Yak-130 fighter jets flew in a formation of 6 aircraft in an isosceles triangle - twice as many as the demonstration flight in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30.
A formation of four L-39NG training aircraft flew over Ba Dinh Square. This was the first time the L-39NGs participated in training in preparation for the grand ceremony. The moment the L-39 aircraft formation flew over the Lenin Monument. A total of 31 aircraft participated, including 10 helicopters; 3 CASA 295 and CASA 212i transport aircraft; 6 Yak-130; 4 L-39NG and 8 SU-30MK2 fighters. The aircraft took off and landed at Hoa Lac, Gia Lam (Hanoi) and Kep ( Bac Ninh ) airports. This is the joint training with the largest number of aircraft. Following the L-39NG formation, the sky of the capital seemed to shake with the roar of the "king cobra" Su-30MK2. This is the most modern fighter aircraft of the Vietnamese army, put into service since December 2006. Impressive moment. In the photo are 5 Su-30MK2s flying over Hanoi Flag Tower.
