Musician Nguyen Van Sanh was born on October 20, 1947 in Tay Phu, Tay Son, Binh Dinh (now Binh Phu commune, Gia Lai province). He is a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association.
In 1967, while a student at Saigon University of Science , he was a member of the Lua Hong Group (a public organization of the City Youth Union), working with musicians Nguyen Xuan Tan, Vu Duc Sao Bien, and Mien Duc Thang.
In 1968, after the first phase of the Tet Offensive and Uprising, he was in charge of the art movement at several disaster relief centers of the Saigon Student Association. Here, some of his compositions were born, such as My Country, In the Heart of My People, and Baby's Songs.
In 1969, he was a member of the Saigon Student Association's Arts Committee and Head of the Saigon Student Arts Group. He was one of four musicians (Tran Long An, Truong Quoc Khanh, Ton That Lap, Nguyen Van Sanh) who founded the "Sing for my people" movement.
Following the development of the movement, he composed many typical songs such as: The East has risen in the pink sun, The working sister, The road we go, strong faith, Raising high the words of the white bird, The love of the North and the South, Our homeland on the day of victory, Qui Nhon shining with a sea of fire...
After 1975, he was selected by the Central Youth Union as a delegate to attend the 11th World Youth and Student Festival in Cuba. He held the following positions: Head of the Youth Cultural House, Deputy Head, Head of the Department of Mass Culture of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City; Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Center.

During his career, in addition to the pen name Nguyen Van Sanh, he also had a number of other pen names such as: Vuong Luan, Nguyen La Nghi, Doan Dinh Giang.
Although he had to serve the cultural management work, during that time, he also created many typical compositions such as: Singing to celebrate the unification of the whole dream, Singing to celebrate the great victory of Cambodia, Song of the youth shock troops, Border in our heart, Vietnam determined to win...
Since his retirement, musician Nguyen Van Sanh has continued to compose tirelessly. He currently has over 100 songs registered with the Copyright Protection Center, including many songs with the theme of "City" and "Learning and Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association.
At the program, delegates and audiences enjoyed 20 songs with the theme "Praise President Ho Chi Minh" and "Learning and following Uncle Ho's words" by musician Nguyen Van Sanh with gentle and emotional melodies.
