According to Dr. Cao Van Chong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, sports in general and football in particular not only reflect professional achievements, but are also a measure of the comprehensive development of the locality.
After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City football is expected to be a field with strong breakthrough opportunities, from community movement to professional.
Restructuring to improve HCMC football
According to Mr. Cao Van Chong, in the new context, grassroots football in the city needs to spread more widely, creating a solid foundation for comprehensive development.
At the professional level, restructuring football teams will contribute to creating a healthy competitive environment, attracting investment, improving professional quality and arousing interest from fans.
However, Ho Chi Minh City football still has many limitations: management is not uniform between regions, the coaching staff is still lacking and weak, the youth training system is not complete, investment resources are unstable, and facilities do not meet requirements.
To overcome this, the city needs to innovate its management thinking, perfect the legal system, build a modern team of professional staff, and at the same time issue incentive mechanisms to encourage businesses and individuals to invest.
In addition, improving the operational efficiency of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation is also an urgent task. This agency needs to improve its personnel, innovate its operating methods towards professionalism, and develop all types of football equally, from 11-a-side, futsal, women's football to grassroots and community football.
Infrastructure investment, training and international cooperation
One of the key solutions, according to Dr. Cao Van Chong, is to strengthen propaganda, education and expand the football movement in the community. The city needs to organize many diverse events, from grassroots tournaments, school football, workers' football to community festivals, creating cohesion and spreading in society.
At the same time, youth training must be raised to a new level, with a systematic, scientific and technologically applied training system. Academies and football training centers need to be strongly developed, from the selection to the nurturing of talent.
International cooperation activities are also an important driving force. Ho Chi Minh City has many cooperation programs with major clubs such as Lyon (France), Kawasaki Frontale (Japan) or Gremio (Brazil). This is a foundation for the city to learn advanced management and training models, while promoting the image of Vietnamese football to the world.
In particular, investment in sports infrastructure is a prerequisite. The city needs to urgently renovate and upgrade existing facilities and plan and build new sports complexes, including stadiums at different levels, meeting national and international standards, serving both professional competitions and meeting the training and entertainment needs of the community.
Every sporting event needs to become a real festival, connecting the spirit of sport with culture, economy and tourism.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized: "The formation of the super city of Ho Chi Minh City is a great opportunity for the city's football to transform strongly, contributing to the success of national sports and promoting the city's image to international friends."
