Green products
One of the typical examples of green start-up model is Hai Van Clean Energy Joint Stock Company founded and operated by Mr. Truong Tu Long (Thanh Khe ward).
From piles of seemingly discarded leaves and dry branches, this enterprise has researched and applied recycling technology to produce biomass, a clean fuel to replace coal and other fossil fuels.
“We collect organic waste after pruning from parks, roads, urban areas, etc., then dry, process and press it into pellets or compressed powder. On average, we supply 100 - 500 tons of biomass materials to industrial factories each month.
Up to now, many big brands such as Heineken, Vinamilk , Pepsi… have become stable partners of the company. In addition, the company also develops organic agricultural substrates from biological waste, contributing to creating a closed cycle in the green recycling chain" - Mr. Long shared.

In addition, the startup model “Moc Xo” of Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Thu (Thanh Khe ward) is also being recognized by the community as a typical model for the sustainable development trend. Using raw materials from loofah, a familiar natural material in the countryside, Ms. Thu has applied microbiological processing techniques and creative designs to create household products such as dishwashing sponges, bath sponges, decorations, etc. that are environmentally friendly, easily decomposed after use and safe for users' health.
“At first, it was just handmade products for the family, but after realizing the market demand and export potential, I started to build the “Moc Xo” brand and expand production. We have now reached a number of markets such as Japan and Europe, where environmentally friendly products of natural origin are very popular,” said Ms. Thu.
In another approach, Ms. Huynh Thi Tuong Vy (Huong Tra ward) with the environmentally friendly mesh bag project Echobag thoroughly exploits the aspect of recycling waste from the sea.
By purchasing and reprocessing used fishing nets from fishermen, Ms. Vy has launched a line of fashionable mesh bags and shopping bags to replace nylon bags. Along with that, the lines of artistic colors from agricultural waste such as vegetables and fruits developed by Mr. Tran Nhan Kiet aim to provide a safe source of color for children and handicraft makers.
Enhance your impact
According to Ms. Tran My Quyen - Director of Thinh Minh An Company Limited, in the past 2 years, the concept of ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) and sustainable development has been widely popularized in the business community, especially the start-up sector. This has created a wave of new projects towards the green economy, while creating a difference in the market.

“Many products seem simple but have great social impact, such as recycled mesh bags, decorative paints from discarded vegetables, or loofahs used in daily life. Through product introduction events, these models attract the attention of consumers. However, most new projects lack experience in communication, promotion and branding. This is the reason Thinh Minh An actively supports start-up groups in communication skills, market connection and product value chain completion,” said Ms. Quyen.
Sharing this view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc - Deputy CEO of Danang Startup Investment and Support Company Limited said that measuring the impact of these startup projects is also very important, because this is a tool to prove the environmental and social efficiency of enterprises, and a bridge to help projects access better capital sources.
At the Impact Measurement Day 2025 event with the theme “Social Impact Enterprises: Measuring Impact and Calling for Funds Effectively” held at the end of May, many enterprises were supported in building impact assessment indicators, thereby enhancing their reputation and ability to convince investment funds. In addition, publicizing these indicators contributes to improving communication capacity, expanding scale and long-term development.
“In the context of increasingly severe climate change and the trend of sustainable consumption becoming a global criterion, startup models that have a positive impact on the environment are contributing to creating a new breeze for the Vietnamese startup ecosystem. This journey not only requires creativity and enthusiasm from individual founders but also requires the companionship of a support system, from training, market connection to impact measurement. It is the steady steps today that will contribute to creating a green economy for the future,” said Ms. Ngoc.
