Hue University dormitories all 'wear new clothes', students are excited

This is the first time that Hue University's dormitory system has been invested in upgrading and refurbishing on a large scale, with many youthful, eye-catching and novel colors, bringing excitement and joy to a large number of students.

According to Ms. Vo Thi Hong Vu - Director of Hue University Student Service Center, after nearly 20 years of use, the student dormitory system consisting of 7 high-rise buildings in An Cuu Ward (Hue City) has seriously degraded, many technical items such as corrugated iron roofs, doors, electricity and water systems, toilets, garages... no longer meet the conditions of use and living of thousands of students. Therefore, investing in repairing, upgrading, and creating a new look for the daily accommodation of students is extremely urgent.

Previously, the Bia School dormitory (now Hue University dormitory facility 1) for students was built in the early 2000s and put into use in 2006. Over time, the construction works have deteriorated, the exterior looks old and shabby.

From the state budget investment of about 30 billion VND, in the summer of 2025, Hue University will invest in repairing and upgrading 6 student dormitories and functional buildings.

Renovation, repair and upgrading work is being carried out at two dormitories A and B of Campus 1 of Hue University Student Service Center located in An Cuu Ward; focusing on waterproofing, renovating a series of closed toilets, re-tiling all floor tiles, replacing electrical and water equipment, renovating 2 student parking lots, etc.

In particular, 6 high-rise buildings with a scale of 580 rooms in areas A and B at the Center's facility 1 have all been newly painted, with many youthful, modern, eye-catching colors, creating excitement, interest, and novelty for many students staying, living, and studying here.

A high-rise building with a gentle pink color is in the process of being completed and renovated.

Ms. Vo Thi Hong Vu said that instead of just painting a monotonous color like before, the dormitory area of the Center's facility 1 will be repainted with 7 different colors such as pink, purple, cobalt blue, copper yellow, banana green... creating a new, modern, youthful feeling for students. Each building has its own color to help students easily identify their accommodation.

Although still in the completion stage, the Hue University dormitory blocks with their "new look" have quickly become "virtual living coordinates" loved by Hue's youth.

Le Ton Thao Hien - a third-year student at the University of Foreign Languages - Hue University, expressed her surprise: “Compared to the first year when I first entered school, this place has changed so much. Previously, the old paint color was quite outdated, not as outstanding as other buildings. Now each building has a very new color, very 'Gen Z', very 'trendy'. I think, at the beginning of this new school year, new students will be very happy and excited to live in a dormitory that is undergoing these changes.”

According to the plan, this August, the construction unit will hand over 4 dormitory buildings after completing repairs, upgrading and repainting. In September, the upgrade of 1 more high-rise dormitory building will be completed to put into service for students in time. The remaining building under the repair and upgrade project, along with 2 new student parking areas, will be implemented later.
