The Long Thanh Airport Job Fair took place on August 23 at 3A Park, An Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province, attracting a large number of students. They came not only to find information and seek job opportunities, but also to show their serious preparation for the upcoming career path.
Proactively seek employment at the airport
Ms. Pham Thi Hang, a 4th year student majoring in Accounting at Dong Nai University (Tam Hiep Ward) shared: “After Long Thanh Airport comes into operation, there will be many job opportunities. I hope I am lucky enough to get a job at the airport. To grasp this opportunity, I have to prepare from now, especially my English proficiency and soft skills. I have registered for courses outside the school and will take a foreign language certificate exam to create a competitive advantage.”
Ms. Le Oanh My (residing in Loc An commune) is a final year student majoring in Airport Management at Vietnam Aviation Academy. To compete for a job at Long Thanh Airport, Ms. My has been very well prepared, has a clear roadmap since high school and constantly improves herself to pursue her career goals.
Accordingly, in 2021, when Ms. My was in grade 12, the Long Thanh Airport Project officially started construction. At that time, this female student was determined to pursue her studies in aviation to work at this airport. Ms. My registered her first choice in the Airport Management major of the Vietnam Aviation Academy. During her internship, Ms. My also interned in the right major at Vietjet Air. Not only focusing on studying, improving English and equipping herself with the necessary skills, Ms. My also always paid attention to grooming her appearance, because the nature of aviation work always requires appearance criteria.
That careful preparation made Ms. My quite confident with her job application and she applied for the position of ground staff of Vietjet Air. Ms. My shared: “The Long Thanh Airport Job Fair was organized and there is a policy of prioritizing recruitment of Dong Nai people. I am very happy that I am on the right track.”
High school students have also seen the wide-open job opportunities at Long Thanh Airport. Tran Nguyen Phuong Anh, a 12A2 student at Long Thanh High School (Long Thanh Commune), said: I will study marketing because the job opportunities are suitable for the future development of Long Thanh Airport. Phuong Anh hopes that she can return to work in Long Thanh and develop herself in her hometown.
“During my studies, I will actively participate in extracurricular activities to develop soft skills and focus on learning more English to meet recruitment criteria,” Phuong Anh said.
Not only attracting students living near Long Thanh Airport, many students from far away also seek job opportunities here. Mr. Pham Viet Hung, a third-year student majoring in Automotive Technology at Eastern College ( Binh Phuoc Ward) said: At the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair, his school had 100 students attending. He hopes to find a job at the airport and is willing to live far away from his family to work here.
According to Ms. Trinh Thi Tram Anh, Director of the Center for Enterprise Cooperation, Van Hien University, the school organized for more than 80 students to participate in the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair. The school highly appreciates the diverse job opportunities that the airport brings. This is an opportunity not only for Dong Nai students but also for workers from many neighboring provinces, as long as each person is proactive in preparing.
General workers confidently seek new opportunities
Not only students, many low-skilled workers also boldly grasped the opportunities from the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair. They proactively changed their mindset and were ready to try new positions.
Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Lan (Long Thanh commune) is over 40 years old, used to work for a company but then quit her job to stay home as a housewife and take care of her children. Knowing about the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair, she registered online to apply for 2 job positions: cook and driver.
Ms. Lan shared: “I have a secondary school degree, and used to work in the human resources department, but now I feel that I am getting older and have less chance to compete for a job position like before, so I decided to apply for one of two jobs: cooking and driving. These jobs only require a high school diploma, but having cooking experience and a driver's license is an advantage. Moreover, I am a resident of Long Thanh, so I also expect to get 1 priority point.”
Similarly, upon learning about the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair through social media, Mr. Nguyen Viet Minh (Phuoc Tan Ward) immediately registered online to apply for the position of baggage handler. Mr. Minh is currently working as a worker, but wants to change jobs. Not only does he hope to find a suitable job, he also hopes that working at Long Thanh Airport will bring him many opportunities for development in the future.
“In addition to professional skills, knowing a foreign language and having experience working in a similar environment will be an advantage. I am very confident so I applied for this first Long Thanh Airport Job Fair” - Mr. Minh confidently shared.
Long Thanh Airport is not only a key national infrastructure project, but also a fulcrum to change the employment landscape of the entire region. From students to ordinary workers, everyone can find opportunities for themselves, with one common condition: being proactive, confident and willing to learn.
