Two airports simultaneously 'launched' military aircraft towards Ba Dinh Square

On the morning of August 28, squadrons of Mi helicopters and Su30-MK2, Yak-130, and L-39NG jets from Hoa Lac and Kep airports organized formation flights in the sky above Ba Dinh Square, attracting the attention of Hanoi residents.

A squadron of helicopters flying the Party and National flags from Hoa Lac airport headed to the center of the capital at 10:30 a.m. on August 28 to practice for the performance on September 2. Before flying over Ba Dinh Square, each helicopter lined up on the Red River, near the Electricity Building.

This helicopter squadron has 10 aircraft including Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171, Mi-172.

After passing the Parliament building area, the helicopter flew over Lenin Park.

Many people and photographers flocked to Ba Dinh Square to watch.

10 helicopters flew in a 1-3-3-3 formation at an altitude of 150m as they passed over the grandstand area. The pilots maintained a strict formation, keeping a distance of 100m apart, with a horizontal and vertical distance of 50x50m.

From the corner of Dien Bien Phu street, you can clearly see the plane passing over the Hanoi Flag Tower.

At 10:42, Su30-MK2 fighters also appeared on the roof of the National Assembly building.

In the first round, the formation of 5 planes flew into Ba Dinh Square, then circled around and divided into 2 small teams of 3 and 2 planes.

This is a modern, powerful multi-role fighter aircraft, playing a key role in Vietnam's fighter force, so the nickname "king cobra" both shows power and has symbolic meaning.

Flying in a formation of 5 Su-30MK2s in arrow formation is the main flight exercise that pilots practice continuously. The "king cobras" have 12 fixed points under the wings to mount weapons, equipped with diverse firepower from air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, rockets, guided bombs, conventional bombs...

In addition, today, 6 Yak-130s also practiced flying in a triangle formation towards Ba Dinh Square.

This is an advanced jet trainer that can also serve as a light attack aircraft. It has 9 weapon hardpoints and can carry up to 3 tons of bombs, rockets, air-to-air missiles (R-73), air-to-ground missiles (Kh-25), KAB guided bombs, etc.

The Yak-130 is also equipped with HUD glass and a digital cockpit similar to 4++ generation fighters such as the Su-30 and Su-35, helping pilots transition easily.

In addition, the L-39NG squadron of 4 aircraft also organized a beautiful flight in a stair formation across Ba Dinh Square.

The L-39NG is an advanced jet trainer and light fighter aircraft developed by Aero Vodochody (Czech Republic). It has 5 weapon hardpoints, can carry 1,200 kg (air-to-air missiles, rockets, guided bombs, reconnaissance pods), can mount a 20 mm cannon on the external pod, and performs light attack, counter-insurgency, and close fire support missions.
