Reward for man who used remote control plane to rescue 2 children

On the afternoon of July 4, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan signed a decision to award a certificate of merit to Mr. Tran Van Nghia (residing in Group 10, Chu Se Commune, Gia Lai Province) for his outstanding achievements in rescue work on July 3 at Ben Mong Bridge area, Ia Tul Commune, Gia Lai Province.

According to this decision, reward funding is implemented in accordance with current legal regulations.

Previously, at around 12 noon on July 3, 3 children were herding cows back home across the Ba River at Ben Mong Bridge, Buon Ju Village, Ia Tul Commune, when water from upstream suddenly poured in. Within a few minutes, the river water rose nearly 1 meter, causing the 3 children to be trapped on a sandbank in the middle of the river.

Mr. Nghia used a remote-controlled plane to rescue children stuck in the middle of the river.

Seeing the dangerous situation, people shouted for help. Some people tried to swim to the middle of the river to save them but failed because of the strong current. At that time, Mr. Tran Van Nghia, who was renting land to grow sweet potatoes on the riverbank, quickly used a remote-controlled plane (used to spray pesticides), tied a rope to the base of the plane and flew it to the middle of the river.

After that, Mr. Nghia and the surrounding people guided the children to tie ropes to themselves and used a remote control plane to successfully bring two children to shore. The remaining child was rescued by people rowing a boat out to rescue and brought safely to shore.
