Mr. Vang was a veteran who had fought and died in the battlefields of Da Nang and the ancient citadel of Quang Tri. In November 1968, he was captured by the enemy and imprisoned in Phu Quoc prison. He was not allowed to return until 1973, when the Paris Agreement was signed.

Like many other veterans, returning to civilian life, Mr. Vang and his family worked hard, overcoming difficulties to have a comfortable life. His hobby and work for more than two decades is collecting antiques, taking care of bonsai, contributing to the family's economic development and preserving historical values.

Mr. Vang's house has long been a familiar address for antique enthusiasts. Currently, Mr. Vang has more than 400 antiques made from many materials such as pottery, stone, wood, porcelain, bronze from the Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen dynasties... Each antique has historical value of each cultural period.

Mr. Vang started collecting antiques and ornamental plants in 2001. To find the items he liked, he often traveled far and wide to search, even riding his motorbike to many provinces and cities to learn more, and only when he was satisfied would he ask to buy them back.

Mr. Vang said that there were days when he rode his motorbike up to 100 km but couldn't buy anything because he didn't like it or someone else had bought it first. His hobby of collecting antiques is the main source of income for his family through trading or reselling antiques and bonsai. Mr. Vang's son is continuing his career.

Along with his antique collection, Mr. Vang is also a member of the Ornamental Plants Association of the former Hai Duong City and Chairman of the Ornamental Plants Association of Thanh Binh Ward (now Le Thanh Nghi Ward). Currently, in his garden, there are nearly 100 ornamental plants of all kinds, some of which are hundreds of years old, many of which are worth hundreds of millions of dong.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien, Head of Residential Area No. 6, Le Thanh Nghi Ward, said that Mr. Vang's hobby and job both bring a stable income for his family and preserve cultural and historical values ​​for everyone, especially children, to come and learn about the history of different periods.

Veteran Nguyen Dang Vang is an example of diligence, hard work, and eagerness to learn. He is also always dedicated to helping many other members develop the bonsai profession.
