Attending the ceremony were Mr. Lee Byunghwa, Country Director of KOICA in Vietnam; Ms. Kim Narae, Deputy Director of KOICA Vietnam Office. On the side of Hue city, there were Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and representatives of departments, agencies and branches.
The Smart Street component was approved by the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee in Decision No. 1778/QD-UBND dated July 24, 2023, with the goal of supporting the initiative to build a smart city associated with sustainable cultural tourism development. The project includes a lighting system, smart surveillance cameras and public wifi along the Huong River.
Specifically, the smart lighting system is installed in the East and West areas of Da Vien Islet, Bui Thi Xuan Park, and Huong River Theater, using modern LED lights, galaxy lights, and landscape lights using GOBO projectors. The camera category includes 43 monitoring devices installed on both sides of the river, connected to the city's Smart Urban Operations Center. In parallel, 44 public wifi stations are also located in riverside parks, serving the connection needs of residents and visitors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lee Byunghwa, Country Director of KOICA in Vietnam, emphasized that the smart street component will contribute to brightening urban spaces, promoting culture, developing sustainable tourism and strengthening the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
On behalf of the leaders of Hue City, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh affirmed that this is an important achievement in the process of building a smart, modern city, while still preserving and promoting unique cultural values. The project is also a continuation of the series of planning projects on both banks of the Huong River sponsored by KOICA, and at the same time reflects the close cooperation relationship between Hue and KOICA, in line with the vision of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea.
Mr. Hoang Hai Minh expressed his deep gratitude to KOICA, and highly appreciated the efforts of the Project Management Board, Project Management Consultant and the YUNGCHANG contractor consortium in ensuring the progress and quality of the project. The city leaders expect KOICA and its partners to continue to accompany in the next components, contributing to realizing the goal of making Hue a leading smart cultural and tourist city.
