Attending the ceremony were representatives of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture andEducation ; the National Cultural Heritage Council; the Department of Cultural Heritage - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of Khanh Hoa province, departments, branches, localities, dignitaries, the Cham community and a large number of people and domestic and international tourists.
Previously, on January 17, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 152/QD-TTg on ranking the Po Nagar Tower Architectural and Artistic Relic as a Special National Relic. Then, on June 3, 2025, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed Decision No. 1651/QD-BVHTTDL announcing the inclusion of "Knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa Agarwood " in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in the category of Folk Knowledge.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the organization of the ceremony to announce and receive the titles of the special national architectural and artistic relic of Po Nagar Tower and the national intangible cultural heritage of Khanh Hoa Agarwood exploitation and processing knowledge aims to honor the special cultural heritage values of the province in many aspects of culture, art, architecture and history.
Thereby, contributing to orienting and building plans to manage, preserve and promote more effectively the values of traditional cultural heritages of the nation, creating a premise to link with promoting the brand of Khanh Hoa province and promoting economic - tourism development.
The Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that, besides Po Nagar Tower, Khanh Hoa province is also famous as "Agarwood Land", the image of goddess Po Nagar/Thien YA Na is honored by agarwood artisans as the founder of the profession. Currently, in Khanh Hoa, there are many craft villages, cooperatives, craft groups, and households making agarwood, creating unique and famous handicraft products such as agarwood incense, agarwood bracelets, agarwood statues, agarwood essential oil, etc.
Many agarwood products of Khanh Hoa are of high quality, certified as OCOP products, contributing to affirming the brand "Khanh Hoa Agarwood" domestically and internationally.
Currently, the profession of exploiting agarwood in Khanh Hoa is still being preserved by the people and preserving folk knowledge, maintaining experience to develop, recreate and manufacture, enriching and diversifying agarwood products. These products not only serve the needs of use but also become unique tourist gifts, bearing the mark of "Agarwood Land - Khanh Hoa Province" for tourists.
The Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee deeply thanked the Central agencies, the National Cultural Heritage Council, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the provincial agencies and departments for their close support and direction.
Mr. Tran Quoc Nam suggested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continue to research, advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee specific solutions to preserve and promote more effectively the typical and unique traditional cultural values of Khanh Hoa associated with the special national relic of Po Nagar Tower and the national intangible cultural heritage "Knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa Agarwood".
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, emphasized the importance of Po Nagar Tower , a special spiritual relic of the Cham - Vietnamese community.
Po Nagar Tower is not only a unique architectural work of art but also a place to preserve many valuable artifacts such as royal decrees, steles and especially the statue of Goddess Po Nagar. /Thien YA Na, a symbol of the talent and quintessence of Cham sculpture. This relic is the center of Mother Goddess worship in the South Central provinces, where people come to pray for peace and prosperity.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa expressed his sincere thanks to the agencies and departments that have supported the recognition of cultural heritage titles. Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province pledged to continue researching and proposing solutions to preserve and further promote the tangible and intangible cultural values of Po Nagar Tower and the knowledge of exploiting and processing agarwood, contributing to creating a unique cultural identity and brand for Khanh Hoa in the future.
On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province commended collectives and individuals with achievements in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the locality.
The event ended with two special art programs: “Legend of Motherland” and “Pride of a thousand-year cultural heritage” to welcome Khanh Hoa province into a new era, an era of opportunity to rise up with the nation. With a series of special art performances that left an impression on the hearts of the people and tourists attending the program.
Khanh Hoa province owns 257 ranked cultural heritages, an impressive number that affirms the province's position on the cultural map of Vietnam. Notable among them are 3 intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO (the art of singing Bai Choi, the art of Don Ca Tai Tu, the art of making pottery of the Cham people); 3 special national monuments (Po Nagar Tower, Po Klong Garai Tower, Hoa Lai Tower).
The locality owns 33 National Monuments, including 5 National Treasures being preserved locally (Khanh Son Lithophone Collection, Hoa Lai Stele, King Po Rome Relief, Phuoc Thien Stele, King Po Klong Garai Statue) and 28 historical - cultural relics and scenic spots ranked at the national level.
