After losing 0-1 to Uzbekistan on October 26, Vietnam had to beat India to keep their chance of advancing. Entering the match at Lokomotiv Stadium this afternoon, October 29, coach Mai Duc Chung changed three positions in the starting lineup with defenders Luong Thi Thu Thuong, My Anh and Thanh Nha replacing Hoang Thi Loan, Tran Thi Thu and Pham Hai Yen respectively.

The first dangerous chance belonged to India but goalkeeper Kim Thanh played with concentration. Immediately after that, Vietnam attacked the right wing. Tuyet Dung calmly handled the ball to her left foot and crossed accurately for Huynh Nhu in the penalty area to head the ball to open the score.

The early goal helped Vietnam play with excitement. In the 10th minute, Huynh Nhu headed the ball against the post and then took a free kick that goalkeeper Elangbam Panthoi had to work hard to block a minute later. In the 22nd minute, from a cross from the left wing by Duong Thi Van, Tran Thi Hai Linh was not marked in the penalty area and headed the ball to double the gap.

In the second half, Vietnam gradually made substitutions, with Pham Hai Yen replacing captain Huynh Nhu. Also with a header, Yen scored the third goal for Vietnam in the 73rd minute. Then, Vietnam's defense made a mistake in the 80th minute when goalkeeper Kim Thanh came out indecisively, allowing substitute Sandhiya Ranganathan to head the ball home.

Winning 3-1, Vietnam temporarily rose to second place in Group C with three points, equal to Uzbekistan but ranked higher thanks to a better goal difference. Host Uzbekistan will face Japan at 7:00 p.m. today and it is unlikely to cause any surprises.

In the final round on November 1, Vietnam will face Japan, while Uzbekistan will face India. Vietnam must have at least a draw, and Uzbekistan must not beat India to have a chance to enter the third qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
