Implementing the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) on implementing the model of "Family of 5 has, 3 clean" in the period of 2022-2027, in order to continue promoting the role and potential of women in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas, the Women's Union of Tay Ninh province chose Truong Dong commune (Hoa Thanh town) as a pilot model to be implemented from April 2023.
After more than two years of implementation, the model has initially recorded many practical results, creating positive changes in the awareness and actions of members and women, effectively contributing to the construction of advanced new rural areas in the locality.
The model of “Family of 5 yes, 3 clean” is a development step from the campaign “Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean”, in which “5 yes” includes: having a safe house, having a sustainable livelihood, having health, having knowledge and having a cultured lifestyle; “3 clean” includes: clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley.
Based on the guidance of the Provincial Women's Union, the Women's Union of Truong Dong commune conducted a survey of the entire Nam Trai hamlet - the place chosen as the model site. Initial results showed that out of 857 households, 698 households met the criteria of a family of 5 rich, 3 clean, accounting for 81.4%. From there, the Union developed a specific assignment plan for each member in the model to support 159 households that did not meet the criteria, focusing on the weak criteria.
Accompanying the grassroots, the Provincial Women's Union organized training on knowledge and methods of implementing the model for 95 Union officials and related organizations; at the same time, directed the organization of communication activities, competitions, thematic activities, and maintained the model of "Union groups accompanying members and women".
Over the past two years, the Commune Women's Union has organized 8 communication campaigns, broadcasting more than 300 propaganda messages on the commune's loudspeaker system and the loudspeaker clusters of hamlets, attracting hundreds of participants. The Union also maintains the "Green Sunday" campaign, the "Green Living Women's Group" model and environmental cleaning activities, contributing to spreading civilized lifestyles and preserving clean and beautiful rural landscapes.
Ms. Pham Thi Kim Hoa, a member of Nam Trai Hamlet, shared: “Since joining the model, the Women's Union has given me specific guidance on each criterion so that my family can gradually improve, especially in home improvement, health care, and applying more effective farming techniques. Thanks to that, family life is stable and the daily routine is more positive than before.”
Thanks to the close support of the Provincial Women's Union and efforts at the grassroots level, many households that had not met the criteria have now seen significant changes. In 2024, 73 more households met the standards of a family of 5 has, 3 clean. Criteria such as having a safe house, having health, having knowledge, having a cultural lifestyle have been improved thanks to communication sessions, skills training, health care instructions, mobilizing participation in health insurance, building a positive lifestyle in daily life and production. Many women have received capital support, access to livelihood models, and participated in vocational training classes in the locality.
Along with supporting the building of model families, the Provincial Women's Union also directed the pilot model of "Women's Group for Job Introduction" in Truong Dong commune. Thereby, connecting and introducing jobs for 255 women at companies and production facilities in and outside the locality.
The Association also supported the consumption of over 200 tons of agricultural products for people, built the model "Women help each other to do 1+1 economy ", the model "3 know, 3 have" to support health insurance cards, production capital, life skills and knowledge of economic development. In 2024, the model helped 8 women escape near poverty, many households increased their income and stabilized their lives.
In addition, the Association coordinated the implementation of mass mobilization projects associated with new rural construction such as the 1,000m long "Flag - Flower" road, planting 100 royal poinciana trees, giving 50 trash bins to households, and organizing 5 "Exchange plastic waste for gifts" programs with more than 2,300 participants.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Van - President of the Provincial Women's Union said: "The implementation of the pilot model at Truong Dong is an important basis for us to evaluate the reality, learn from experience and build a roadmap to replicate the model suitable for each locality.
The results in Truong Dong commune demonstrate the active participation of the grassroots Women's Union, the response of members and people, thereby affirming that the model of 5 yes, 3 clean can completely become a sustainable solution in building a new model rural area today."
The model of “Family of 5 yes, 3 clean” in Truong Dong pilot commune is gradually showing sustainable effectiveness, not only in raising people’s awareness and behavior but also contributing significantly to building a model new rural commune. This is an important practical basis for the Provincial Women’s Union to continue to perfect and replicate the model in accordance with the conditions of each locality, contributing to improving the quality of life and building happy families.
