Another highlight of the two localities is that they are at the forefront of developing green agriculture and organic agriculture in a sustainable direction. In particular, the two districts have applied Probiotic bacteria (IMO) and wine yeast (MEVI) to create organic fertilizers and biological drugs from household waste, organic agricultural waste, livestock waste, etc. to do organic agriculture at low cost.
Clean and beautiful residential area
Vinh Cuu and Cam My districts are among the top in the province in building model residential areas, implementing well the difficult criteria on environmental protection such as: sorting waste at source, ensuring a bright - green - clean - beautiful rural environment; converting to safe agricultural production... Achieving the above results is thanks to these localities having many good and creative ways of doing things, especially mobilizing the strength of the whole community to actively participate.
Vinh Cuu district has 9 communes, but up to now, the whole district has 15 model residential areas that have implemented the model of Trash bins to classify domestic solid waste at source, combined with food waste treatment using IMO to make organic compost and fertilizer for agricultural cultivation in the district. More specifically, schools in the district have successfully applied IMO to build friendly toilets that are bright - green - clean - beautiful, airy, actively contributing to building friendly schools.
Since 2017, Vinh Cuu district has been interested in building the model of Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful Roads and continuously replicating this model in the district. Up to now, the whole district has had 87 roads recognized as bright - green - clean - beautiful roads. Of which, 3 roads won first, second and third prizes at the model road competitions organized by the province. Bright - green - clean - beautiful roads are the foundation creating favorable conditions for the district to continuously replicate model residential areas.
Cam My district has 12 communes but has successfully built 13 standard residential areas, contributing to creating a clean and beautiful rural appearance. Thanks to the model road models, the model residential areas are constantly being replicated. Up to now, in the area of 12 communes, there are 703 lanes and alleys with a total length of nearly 446km, of which more than 90% are asphalted or concreted. Of which, more than 95% of the length of the roads has been implemented as bright - green - clean - beautiful.
The movement to improve the appearance of the countryside to be bright - green - clean - beautiful has become a vibrant emulation movement among the community in the district. Up to now, 100% of the traffic routes in the communes of Cam My district have been planted with flowers, shade trees, ornamental plants, lawns, etc. Model residential areas have well implemented the Movement of Families with 5 Yes, 3 Clean. Households have also actively renovated their houses, mixed gardens and gate fences, etc.
One of the important criteria in building advanced new rural areas in Cam My and Vinh Cuu districts is to continuously increase income for rural people. In 2024, the average income per capita in Vinh Cuu district will reach 89 million VND/person/year; Cam My district will reach 83 million VND/person/year.
Green, sustainable agricultural production
In 2018, Vinh Cuu district was one of the first localities in the province to deploy a model of using IMO probiotics in the production of low-cost biological fertilizers and pesticides. To date, the district has more than 238 hectares of cultivated land where people use IMO probiotics to decompose agricultural by-products, waste, and organic waste to create organic fertilizer to improve the quality of cultivated land, significantly reducing input costs in the production process. In addition, more than 30 livestock households in the district use IMO probiotics to treat livestock waste, reduce odors, and improve the environment in livestock areas and neighboring households.
In the district, there are currently 15 model residential areas that have implemented the model of trash bins to classify solid waste at source, combined with processing food waste to make organic humus and fertilizer for agricultural cultivation. Therefore, this is also a leading locality in the province in developing organic agriculture. To date, the whole district has 15 hectares of crops certified for production according to organic standards; more than 480 hectares of key crops certified for production according to VietGAP standards.
Binh Loi (Vinh Cuu district) is the first commune to meet the model new-style rural standards of the province, as well as in building model residential areas when the commune has 4 model residential areas.
Hamlet Chief, Head of the Women's Union of Hamlet 4, Binh Loi Commune Nguyen Thi Nga shared that model residential areas in the commune are competing to build bright - green - clean - beautiful flower roads; implementing well the difficult criterion of sorting waste at the source. After sorting, people compost organic waste for use in agricultural production with the goal of making clean agricultural products at low cost.
Cam My is also a leading locality in the province in developing clean and organic agriculture. Up to now, many agricultural products in the district have been certified as meeting organic standards such as pepper, durian, and rice. This locality is also at the forefront of attracting businesses and cooperatives to invest and build clean and safe production links.
The district has developed 22 specialized crop production areas with an area of over 5,500 hectares. Of which, the district's main crop is pepper, of which over 1,000 hectares have been produced to safety standards, with about 200 hectares produced in an organic manner.
The Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Lam San Commune (Cam My District) compared that Lam San used to be a particularly difficult commune in the district. Up to now, with more than 1,800 hectares of pepper, this is the area with the largest pepper area in the district. Thanks to the conversion to develop specialized pepper growing areas, many farmers in the commune have become billionaires and farmer millionaires. Notably, Lam San Agricultural Cooperative is one of the pioneers in gathering and linking people to produce clean pepper according to the value chain. Thanks to that, this cooperative has successfully exported clean pepper products to demanding markets such as Europe, Japan, etc.
