Strong move
Determining that the national target program for new rural construction has a starting point but no ending point, after being recognized by the Prime Minister as a new rural district in 2020, Thuong Tin district continues to build a roadmap to strive to achieve an advanced new rural district.
As a locality located at the southern gateway of the capital, with many important traffic routes passing through, and possessing a rich cultural and historical heritage, Thuong Tin district has known how to maximize its potential and advantages. Correctly assessing the current situation and determining strategic directions has helped the district synchronously and effectively implement the new rural construction program.
After 13 years of continuous efforts, from a purely agricultural district with many difficulties as a starting point, Thuong Tin has made a spectacular transformation. After being recognized as a new rural district in 2020, by 2024, the district continued to be recognized as an advanced new rural district, 1 year ahead of schedule.
Up to now, all 26/26 communes in the district have met the new rural standards; of which 20 communes have met the advanced new rural standards and 4 communes have met the model new rural standards. Thuong Tin town has also been recognized as a civilized urban area, meeting the urbanization criteria in the process of building new rural areas.
The economic structure in the district has clearly shifted in a positive direction, with the proportion of industry - construction, trade - services increasing; the proportion of agriculture gradually decreasing. In 2024, the total state budget revenue in the district will reach 1,468,462 million VND, equal to 119.21% of the assigned estimate, an increase of 50.82% compared to 2020. Average income per capita will reach 76.49 million VND/person/year, 5.67 times higher than in 2011.
Cultural infrastructure has been invested synchronously: 162/162 villages have cultural houses; the district cultural center has been invested in complete items; the art and sports movement has developed strongly. In the field ofeducation , school facilities have been upgraded to be spacious and modern; the team of managers and teachers has been standardized, meeting the requirements of innovation. By 2024, the district will have 78 standard schools, with no more poor households.
The socio-economic infrastructure system, especially works serving people's lives, are constantly being invested in, upgraded and completed. Investment in schools and teaching equipment has been increased. Along with socio-economic development, the district continues to promote economic restructuring towards rapidly reducing the proportion of agriculture, rapidly increasing industry - handicrafts - services, reducing the proportion of agriculture in the economic structure.
Continue to develop, focusing on 4 key tasks
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, on behalf of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, acknowledged and commended the outstanding efforts and achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Thuong Tin district in the process of implementing the national target program on new rural construction.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan suggested that the Party Committee, Government, Fatherland Front and political and social organizations of Thuong Tin district and the upcoming 4 new communes: Thuong Tin, Thuong Phuc, Chuong Duong, Hong Van continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, initiative, responsibility, high determination... to exploit and promote potentials and advantages, unleash resources, strongly innovate thinking to further develop the locality.
In addition, he requested the district to focus on implementing four key tasks. First of all, completing the arrangement of the organizational apparatus and political system to be ready to operate the two-level urban government model from July 1, 2025.
Along with that, grassroots Party committees and authorities need to maintain and promote the tradition of solidarity and creativity, continue to innovate leadership methods, improve the capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations; and build a clean and strong political system.
Thuong Tin is also required to focus on carefully preparing for the organization of the Party Congresses of communes, towards the 18th City Party Congress (term 2025 - 2030), as well as preparing well for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the term 2026-2031.
Finally, the district needs to continue promoting patriotic emulation movements; developing sustainable rural economy associated with exploiting the strengths of craft villages; at the same time preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, developing types of tourism such as: ecological, craft villages, spiritual, experiential... Combined with that is strong investment in rural infrastructure in the direction of "bright, green, clean, beautiful", improving the quality of life for people both materially and spiritually.
