334,234 houses inaugurated means millions of lives have a brighter future

" In the face of difficulties and challenges, we have made efforts and tried to achieve the basic goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide. This is a gift that contributes to the common joy and happiness of the whole nation, " said the Prime Minister.

Within 1 year and 4 months, the Central Steering Committee and localities carried out a lightning-fast campaign, mobilizing over 24,700 billion VND (of which people's contributions and socialized resources accounted for nearly half, with nearly 12,300 billion VND), supporting over 2.7 million working days with over 454,000 participants, completing the elimination of 334,234 temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, converting them into new, spacious houses, "3 hard" (hard roof, hard wall, hard floor) with 12 house models suitable for each locality's conditions.

Thus, the whole country completed 5 years and 4 months ahead of the target of Resolution No. 42 of the Central Committee and 4 months ahead of the target when launching the emulation movement. Of which, all housing for people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs was completed before July 24.

This is also a miracle in the sustainable poverty reduction effort, consolidating the foundation for the development perspective for fairness, social progress and sustainability of our country in the new period - an outstanding and practical achievement to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2, 80th anniversary of the heroic People's Public Security tradition day and to welcome Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress ", the Prime Minister emphasized.

Each house is a living proof - "a gift", "a warm home", "a love", sharing with the needy, gratitude to those who have contributed, realizing the Party's correct policies and guidelines; demonstrating the good and superior nature of our regime; affirming the humanistic values and fine moral traditions of the nation "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source", "Remember the one who planted the tree when eating the fruit", "The healthy leaves cover the torn leaves"...

We have basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, however, the Prime Minister said that this is only an important step in social policy.

The core is still to continue to promote production and business, create jobs and livelihoods, constantly improve the quality of life and material and spiritual life for the people, encourage people to escape poverty sustainably, move towards getting rich, rise from "hands, minds, land, sky, sea", surpass themselves, enrich themselves legitimately and contribute to society.

Assigning tasks in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to identify the care and housing support for people with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and people living in areas frequently affected by natural disasters and climate change as a regular, continuous and long-term task.

" With 334,234 households having been supported to remove temporary and dilapidated houses, this is only the initial foundation for 'settling down'. In the coming time, we need to continue to support these households to 'settle down', striving for Vietnam to basically have no more poor households by 2030 in accordance with the spirit of Directive No. 05 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in sustainable poverty reduction by 2030 ," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp the Party's policy on using the state budget as the main and fundamental resource in ensuring social security, along with mobilizing social resources, especially in vocational training, solving livelihoods and jobs for the poor and ethnic minorities.

According to the Prime Minister, it is necessary to attach responsibility to local Party committees and authorities in mobilizing, managing, and using resources to implement policies to support vocational training, solve livelihoods, employment, healthcare, education, housing, etc., first of all for households that are supported to remove temporary and dilapidated houses.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to direct the People's Armed Forces to continue promoting revolutionary traditions, closely attached to the People, being both the core force protecting national sovereignty and security, and a solid support in socio-economic development, ensuring social security for people, especially in border areas, islands, remote and isolated areas.

On behalf of the Government, the Central Steering Committee and the Central Emulation and Reward Council, the Prime Minister respectfully thanked the special attention and close direction of the Party and State leaders, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary To Lam for social security work in general and the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in particular.

According to the Prime Minister, if social security work is done well, it will contribute to the two strategic goals for the next 100 years, helping to bring the country firmly into a new era - an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, and prosperity of the Vietnamese people, with people increasingly prosperous and happy.
