Link to spread OCOP product values

According to the Hanoi New Rural Development Coordination Office, the OCOP Program has made an important contribution to local economic development, increasing the value of agricultural products and craft villages. Integrating cross-sectoral values will help increase the value of OCOP products, contributing to sustainable development for agriculture and rural areas in the city.

Connect with localities so that people in the capital can access OCOP products.

In 2019, Hanoi city officially started implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program. Up to now, the whole city has classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the total OCOP products of the whole country), becoming the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of OCOP products.

However, according to data from the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, most essential goods regularly only meet 35 to 45% of market demand, the rest must be imported from other provinces and cities in the country and from abroad.

Therefore, the Department has advised on the implementation of the coordination program between the Hanoi People's Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in building a chain of safe agricultural and food products.

To date, Hanoi has built more than 1,500 supply chains of safe agricultural and food products to serve the consumption of the capital's 12 million people and built nearly 160 chains of safe agricultural and food products within the city.

Many OCOP products and clean agricultural products are introduced to the people of the capital.

Although Hanoi has a large agricultural production scale, the land area for agricultural production is more than 197,000 hectares, ranking among the top localities in the country, and there are 1,336 agricultural cooperatives in operation; there are 1,574 farms, 172 production and consumption chains with more than 164 high-tech application models, over 14 thousand agricultural, forestry and fishery products have been granted traceability codes...

But in reality, many of the city’s OCOP products still face difficulties in accessing the market, promoting trade, and lacking effective marketing strategies. Many places still face difficulties in building brands. Regional linkages and multi-sector development have not really received much attention.

To overcome the above situation and spread the value of OCOP products, the city has identified and promoted the integration of interdisciplinary values of agriculture, processing industry, tourism, and other creative industries to increase the value of OCOP agricultural products into the cultural industry, conveying the city's indigenous values.

OCOP products of localities are diverse in designs and types.

Recently, the City Department of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with localities to organize many events to introduce and promote OCOP products to the people of the capital such as: "Event to introduce OCOP products associated with the culture of the Central and Central Highlands provinces"; "Week of consulting, introducing and promoting the consumption of products: OCOP, craft villages, safe agricultural and food products in 2025"...

The above events were responded to by provinces and cities across the country with thousands of craft village products, agricultural products, and safe food.

Director of Binh Lu Agricultural Service Cooperative, Binh Lu Commune (Lai Chau Province) Bui Thi Hong Thu said: "I bring local specialties such as vermicelli, cham cheo, honey and 3-star rice with the desire to serve the majority of people in the capital. I hope to be welcomed by the people, thereby also finding more markets for my products..."

OCOP products are trusted by people.

Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, a customer participating in the Fair, said that recently, with the information of fake and poor quality goods flooding the market, causing confusion among consumers, the fairs and OCOP sales points organized by the city are a reliable address, helping people access quality products. OCOP is like a stamp of quality assurance, certified by competent authorities and consumers feel secure in using it.

According to the Hanoi New Rural Development Coordination Office, the OCOP Program has made an important contribution to local economic development and increased the value of agricultural products and craft villages. However, for this program to truly realize its full potential, there needs to be close coordination between sectors and localities and synchronous investment in technology, planning, and trade promotion.

Integrating cross-sectoral values will be the key to enhancing the value of OCOP products, contributing to sustainable development for agriculture and rural areas in the city in the future.
