God-given location

Canh Duong is located on both sides of the Bu Lu River, with mountains and long sandy beaches creating a beautiful landscape. This coastal village is located in Chan May - Lang Co Commune, Hue City (formerly Loc Vinh Commune, old Phu Loc District). Bu Lu River (literally Phu Xuyen) originates from Cam Thuy peak on the southeast slope of Bach Ma range and flows down, before flowing into the East Sea, it follows Cu Du Mountain, winding, creating a charming landscape.

Cu Du Mountain is the end point of the mountain range stretching from Bach Ma through Phuoc Tuong Pass reaching out to the sea at Cham May Tay Cape, while the Phu Gia mountain range in the south curves around Chan May Dong Cape, creating a deep-water Chan May Bay, which is being exploited as a seaport with hundreds of cargo ships and tourist ships arriving each year.

The beauty of Canh Duong does not stop at natural scenery and tourism development. This village also contains a rich history.

The book Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi of the Nguyen Dynasty's National History Institute wrote: "Originating from Cam Thuy mountain, flowing east, reaching the Ngot bridge on the station road is Phu Xuyen river; flowing east again, reaching the south of Hoai An mountain about one mile, then flowing north into Canh Duong estuary".

Under the Nguyen Lords and Nguyen Dynasty, Canh Duong seaport was always focused on defense, being one of the five important seaports of Thua Thien - Hue province (old).

According to author Mai Van Duoc (lecturer of the Faculty of History - University of Science , Hue University), Canh Duong village was established around the end of the 17th century to the beginning of the 18th century. Canh Duong village used to have the administrative name of ward, then changed to hamlet, and finally to village as it is today.

The village is divided into 3 hamlets: Trang hamlet, Giua hamlet and Quan hamlet. Through many historical changes, many documents were lost, but cultural and traditional values ​​are still preserved and promoted by Canh Duong people.

The village has beautiful natural scenery, located in Lang Co - Canh Duong National Tourist Area (belonging to Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone) in the master plan for the development of Lang Co - Canh Duong National Tourist Area to 2025, with a vision to 2030 according to Decision No. 1774/QD-TTg dated December 19, 2018 of the Prime Minister.

But up to now, Canh Duong's tourism potential has not been awakened and exploited to its full potential.

Located next to the famous 5-star Laguna tourist area with modern investment, Canh Duong coastal village is still a pure coastal village with people fishing near the shore all year round.

Mr. Bui Ngoc Tho, head of Canh Duong village, said that the village has 803 households with more than 3,000 people, who have lived off the wind and waves for generations. In recent years, with the development of tourism, people's lives have improved a lot.

"Many people boldly invested in shops, changing the face of the poor coastal area, attracting a lot of tourists, and people's lives have gradually improved," Mr. Tho shared.

Currently, Canh Duong beach has 11 restaurants and 8 accommodations, creating jobs for hundreds of local people. However, local tourism is still mainly exploiting spontaneous services, without proper investment. The current beach is rented by local people from the commune to open restaurants but they can only operate for 6 months in the dry season.

Not yet invested adequately, but Canh Duong beach is still a favorite choice of young people. Possessing a coastline of nearly 4km, a wide, fine sand beach stretching over 200m, gentle, clear sea water all year round, the air here is fresh, cool, and dust-free.

Staying overnight in a tent on the romantic Canh Duong beach is a new trend for many families and groups of young people. In the afternoon, after swimming in the cool, clear sea water and participating in exciting games, in the evening, visitors can light a fire, sing with friends and enjoy an outdoor party with fragrant grilled seafood - a perfect choice.

Canh Duong Beach operates under the eco-tourism model. When you come here, you can experience new feelings when you light your own stove, cook on the beach or set up a tent to rest while still hearing the sound of waves lapping the shore.

At night, walking around the sea will make you feel comfortable and enjoy the cool breeze with the salty taste of the ocean, then lie down and listen to the "whispering" sound of the waves. And early in the morning, when you wake up, you just need to zip up the tent to immediately admire the beautiful sunrise on the sea.

"We are proud to be visited by tourists from all over. Hopefully, Canh Duong will receive attention and investment from all levels and authorities so that tourism here can develop more systematically and strongly, such as: roads will be expanded, parking lots will be built, beaches will have more modern games... Tourism will develop, our people will also have more income so that our lives will improve day by day, and our homeland will become more and more beautiful," Ms. Pham Thi Anh Giau, a trader in Canh Duong village, hopes.

Leaving Canh Duong, we brought with us the beautiful image of a pristine beach and the lingering feelings about the lifestyle of the people of the coastal village. They have found a way to harmonize tradition and modernity, to develop but still preserve the "soul" of the village.
