To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and Vietnam Stamp Day August 27, yesterday morning (August 26), the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History coordinated with the Viet Stamp Club to organize a special exhibition of stamps on 80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the sea . According to the Chairman of the Viet Stamp Club, Hoang Anh Thi: "The exhibition aims to introduce and honor the documentary and artistic value of postage stamps as a means of preserving history, reflecting culture, politics , and important events, especially the early period of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, while enhancing understanding of the role of postage stamps as a "cultural messenger", helping to connect peoples and marking friendly relations between Vietnam and the world".

Coming to this unique exhibition, viewers were moved when they saw with their own eyes the first set of postage stamps of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, issued on September 2, 1946. Previously, on August 27, 1946, the Government issued a Decree allowing the Vietnam Post to issue a set of postage stamps consisting of 5 stamps, size 26 x 41 mm, depicting the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, designed by artist Nguyen Sang. The stamps were printed with the title Democratic Republic of Vietnam . This was the first set of stamps designed, printed and issued by the Vietnam Post, opening the line of Vietnam Revolutionary Postage stamps. The issuance of this set of stamps marked an important milestone on the path of independent development of postage stamps and was also the first set of stamps bearing the National Name of Vietnam. Since then, Vietnam postage stamps have begun to integrate, becoming a national message, an ambassador of peace and friendship with countries around the world through green letters.

POSTAL LETTER ABOUT UNCLE HO AND LEADERS

Stamp collector Hoang Anh Thi said: "In 2000, it was like fate when I came across a stamp set commemorating the 70th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh issued by Cuba. Starting from collecting stamps honoring President Ho Chi Minh issued by the world and being encouraged by veteran collector Phung Thang Binh, I formed the idea of collecting all foreign stamps and postal items related to Vietnam. Now, after a quarter of a century of pursuing the topic of collecting Vietnam on world stamps, I have built stamp collections that have won high awards at domestic and international stamp exhibitions, with nearly 700 stamps and world postal items."

The stamps marking 80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the sea also brought people to the stamp set of President Ho Chi Minh (1890 - 1969) with international friends . In 1987, at the 24th meeting, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) passed a resolution on commemorating the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birth in 1990 and honoring him as the Hero of Vietnamese National Liberation and an Outstanding Cultural Figure . On this occasion, a number of countries in the world issued stamps with his image. It is worth mentioning the stamp set commemorating the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birth issued by Madagascar on May 19, 1990, clearly stating the title UNESCO honored President Ho Chi Minh as "Hero of Vietnamese National Liberation". In addition to the World postage stamp collection telling stories of Vietnam , the topic also brings a collection of medals, badges, and insignia from the early period of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam collected by the "Red Star" revolutionary memorabilia collection group.

On this occasion, the exhibition also introduces a set of postage stamps about General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911 - 2013), a set of postage stamps about outstanding diplomat Le Duc Tho (1911 - 1990), stamps about Vietnam - the country, people and landscapes; and postage stamps about Vietnam - the destination of international friends...
