Support women to start production and business

To help women start businesses, the Provincial Women's Union (now the Women's Working Committee, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee) has implemented many activities to support and accompany members in realizing production and business ideas effectively, connecting women together to develop the economy and build prosperous and happy families.

Ms. Quang Thi Van, Head of the Women's Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: Every year, the Coordinating Committee organizes training to improve the capacity of the staff in charge of supporting women in economic development; directors, deputy directors and members of cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women. Training content includes building a business plan; sales skills, online marketing on social networking platforms; instructions on market connection, advertising, trade promotion for products, services, product traceability stamps, practice designing clips, videos, posters to promote products...

Through the Prime Minister's project "Supporting women to start businesses in the period of 2017-2025" and the international cooperation project "Promoting gender equality, improving economic efficiency of agricultural production and tourism development" (GREAT Project), cooperatives with women participating in have been supported to complete legal procedures to establish models; develop business plans; support access to preferential loans, access to resources from non-governmental organizations and individuals investing in model activities. In addition, female representatives managing cooperative models and cooperative groups are also supported to participate in creative startup competitions, such as: "Seeds to promote business" and "Leverage to accelerate business", "Women starting businesses - Promoting indigenous resources" ... Support for connecting product consumption, participating in e-commerce platforms, building product labels and packaging.

From 2024 to present, the Women's Working Group has consulted and coordinated to support the establishment of 4 cooperatives with women participating in management, including: Noong Oi Agricultural and Tourism Service Cooperative and Hoang Long Craft and Brocade Village Cooperative, Moc Son Ward; 90 Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, Moc Chau Ward; Moc Chau Clean Agricultural Products Production, Trading and Export Cooperative, Van Son Ward. In addition, the dossier for establishing 2 cooperatives in Yen Chau and Phu Yen communes has been completed.

To date, the province has 600 women starting and running businesses with business registration; 30 cooperatives and cooperative groups led by women produce and consume safe products. Over 34,000 member households, including cooperatives led by women, have received loans to invest in production and business development, with a total outstanding loan of over 1,800 billion VND.

Having held the position of President of the Women's Union of Quang Huy town (now Phu Yen commune), Ms. Cam Thi Ngan had many opportunities to travel to localities to explore, learn experiences, and participate in training programs to develop economic models. In 2019, she mobilized a number of members to establish Quang Huy Agricultural Service Cooperative specializing in organic rice production, and she took on the position of Director of the Cooperative.

Ms. Ngan informed: The cooperative currently has 60 members, growing 130 hectares of rice varieties J02, Dai Thom 8 and BC 15 in an organic direction, with a yield of 6 tons/ha. The total revenue of the cooperative is about 10 billion VND/year; after deducting expenses, each member earns from 120-150 million VND/member/year. The cooperative is implementing the model "Our home field" with 45 organizations and individuals participating in production and supporting rice consumption, helping the cooperative expand its area, promote digital transformation in management, ensure a transparent production process and maintain the brand "Phu Yen Rice".

In order for the start-up movement among women members to spread more and more widely, the Women's Working Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province focus on consolidating and operating according to a new model; supporting members and women to improve their qualifications and apply scientific and technological advances in production and life... Strive in the period of 2022-2025 to support at least 400 women to start businesses and start businesses; establish at least 20-25 cooperatives and 5-10 cooperatives managed and operated by women associated with sustainable product value chains.
