This is the first step in adjusting the team's strength before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Indonesia.
Previously, on the first day of the meeting, the U23 Vietnam team had an additional personnel when midfielder Nguyen Quoc Viet ( Ninh Binh Club) was summoned, bringing the total number of players on the list to 36 people.

After a period of professional evaluation through training sessions and two internal practice matches, the coaching staff decided to say goodbye to 8 players including: Nguyen Quang Vinh (SL Nghe An), Nguyen Dang Duong (The Cong Viettel ), Le Dinh Long Vu (SL Nghe An), Dinh Xuan Tien (SL Nghe An), Nguyen Le Phat (PVF), Le Van Thuan (Thanh Hoa Club), Nguyen Bao Long (PVF), Dinh Quang Kiet (HAGL).
Yesterday afternoon (July 6), the group of 8 players above returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season, while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the next training sessions, aiming for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers as well as the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team will continue to practice in Ho Chi Minh City until July 12. After that, the team will move to Tan Son Nhat to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14, officially entering the journey to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Before departure, coach Kim Sang Sik will announce the official list of 23 players, and the team will use the name U23 Vietnam team to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
The tournament will take place from July 15 to July 29. In the group stage, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22. With two consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023, the U23 Vietnam team is expected to continue to successfully defend the title in the regional arena.
