On the evening of July 2, the U22 Vietnam team had their first friendly match with U22 Taiwan at Ba Ria Stadium. This friendly match was to help the two teams test their personnel and tactical formations for upcoming tournaments.
For U22 Vietnam, the friendly match is an opportunity for coach Kim Sang Sik to review the squad for the upcoming 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Indonesia. Meanwhile, U22 Taiwan is preparing for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship qualifiers in September.
After 3 previous training sessions, the right to lead the Vietnam U22 team was handed over to acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh. Coach Kim Sang Sik directly took charge of this training session to best prepare for the upcoming important tournaments.

The Korean coach took advantage of the first friendly match with U22 Taiwan to test the squad and evaluate the abilities of his players. Therefore, he sent many players onto the field to test their abilities.
However, it was not difficult for the U22 Vietnam team to win a resounding 5-0 victory over U22 Taiwan.
In the 9th minute, midfielder Phi Hoang opened the score for U22 Vietnam. But it was not until the 36th minute that midfielder Van Truong was able to double the gap. Before the end of the first half, striker Quoc Viet scored to raise the score to 3-0.
In the second half, U22 Vietnam made many substitutions. Among them, Vietnamese-Russian player Viktor Le took the captain's armband.
In this half, U22 Vietnam continued to take the initiative to open up many dangerous opportunities. As a result, coach Kim Sang Sik's team scored 2 more goals thanks to midfielder Le Van Thuan (minute 68) and Viktor Le (minute 79).
According to the plan, the two teams will have a friendly match on July 4th, also at Ba Ria Stadium. This match will continue to take place without spectators or media coverage.
