Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (right) visits the living conditions and business of women members who received loans from the Association.
In 2009, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong joined the Women's Union as Vice President of the Women's Union of Hamlet 2. In 2020, she assumed the role of President of the Women's Union. At that time, the rate of poor and near-poor households among women's union members was still quite high. Not afraid of difficulties, Ms. Huong promoted and mobilized the establishment and effective management of the Social Policy Bank (SBP) loan group, helping women access preferential loans, invest in production development, small-scale trading, livestock farming, and economic development.
In addition, over the years, Ms. Huong has closely followed the key tasks and emulation movements of the Association to widely deploy them to members. Responding to the campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean", Ms. Huong and the CHPN collective have organized many activities: propagating and mobilizing members and women to prevent and combat social evils; propagating and preventing abuse of women and children; mobilizing women to use plastic bags when going to the market to limit the use of plastic bags...
Currently, the NHCSXH Loan Group, established by the CHPN Hamlet 2, is operating quite effectively, with 38 members and an outstanding loan of more than 2 billion VND. Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mo, a member of the Women's Union, was in difficult circumstances and had children of school age. Ms. Mo was supported by the CHPN Hamlet to borrow capital to open a grocery store and transform 3 hectares of mixed gardens into a specialized plum garden, and raise elephant ear fish. The business was favorable, and her family gradually became well-off. Ms. Bui Thi Que's family was also in difficult circumstances before, with no land for production, working for hire to make a living, and her children were of school age. Ms. Que said: "I was encouraged by Ms. Huong to borrow capital for livestock farming, and the family economy gradually stabilized. Thanks to that, my husband and I were able to raise 2 children to study and graduate from university."
In addition to actively supporting members to develop the economy and improve their living standards, the CHPN Hamlet 2 is also a pioneer in the movement of physical exercise, cultural and artistic activities, and social security care. In 2021, Ms. Huong mobilized to establish a Folk Dance Club model. Up to now, the club has attracted 35 women to participate in activities every evening. Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, a club member, said: "I find this model very useful. After a hard day's work, women meet together, participate in folk dance to improve their health, and share joys and sorrows in life."
As the head of the Women's Union of the hamlet, Ms. Huong actively mobilizes benefactors and organizes visits and gifts for members in difficult circumstances, misfortunes, and disabilities on holidays and Tet. Ms. Huong informed: "On average, each year, the Women's Union of the hamlet mobilizes and gives 50-60 gifts, each worth 300,000 VND or more; at the same time, it gives notebooks, books, uniforms, and Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to members' children, worth 8-10 million VND/year". Ms. Tran Thi Me suffered a stroke and her health declined. Ms. Huong mobilized benefactors to regularly support necessities, helping Ms. Me ease the difficulties in life. Ms. Huong is also a trusted spiritual support, with whom women share their feelings whenever life and family are not as expected. Ms. Huong has contributed to successfully reconciling many marriage and family cases, helping women progress and build happy families...
Currently, the Women's Union of Hamlet 2 no longer has poor women members; the material and spiritual life of the women is constantly improving, to which Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong has made a significant contribution. With the results achieved, the Women's Union of Hamlet 2 has been evaluated by the Women's Union of the commune for many consecutive years as having excellently fulfilled its tasks, Ms. Huong has been awarded many certificates of merit by the People's Committee of the commune and the Women's Union of the commune.
