The effectiveness of community bookstores in Bac Thanh Mien commune (Hai Phong)

The community bookstore in Bac Thanh Mien commune, built by a native son, is open free of charge on weekends for people to visit, read books, and research documents.

The community bookstore is located in Vinh Mo village, Bac Thanh Mien commune, Hai Phong city (Vinh Mo village, Le Hong commune, Thanh Mien district, old Hai Duong province)

The bookstore is designed in a hexagonal shape, located in a large campus including a swimming pool and a cool green garden system.

The community bookstore was built in 2020 by the family of Mr. Vu Van Hien, former member of the Party Central Committee and former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam. The bookstore displays more than 16,000 books and magazines in various fields.

The bookstore opens for free on weekends to promote reading culture, contribute to improving knowledge for the community; encourage and motivate young people to have more determination and a spirit of learning to become talents to build their homeland and country.

Every weekend, the bookstore is a cultural destination that attracts many people in the village and neighboring localities, especially children.

Books, newspapers, magazines, documents, and comics are arranged and organized by field, very scientifically and reasonably, helping readers to easily search.

The number of books is also regularly updated and supplemented to serve readers.

Currently, the bookstore is being looked after and cleaned regularly by Mr. Vu Van Anh and his wife.

The first floor is where a collection of hundreds of antique radios with many types and famous brands from around the world is displayed.

The 3rd and 4th floors are where the achievements and memorabilia of Mr. Vu Van Hien's family, former member of the Party Central Committee and former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station, are kept.

The 4th floor area was newly built and renovated this year. It displays many medals, paintings, photos, and memorabilia during the working process of Vu Van Hien and his family.

The bookstore campus area is also equipped with many outdoor exercise equipment so that every afternoon local people can come to have fun and exercise.
