The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship, organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, gathered more than 1,500 players from 52 provinces, cities, industries and clubs across the country.

Players compete for 160 individual and team medals in four categories: rapid chess, blitz chess, standard chess and traditional chess, divided into 10 age groups from 6 to 20, male and female.

In the final results, Hanoi excellently led the medal tally with 55 gold medals, 41 silver medals and 62 bronze medals, continuing to affirm its position as a strong center of youth chess in the country. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second with 53 gold medals, 46 silver medals and 59 bronze medals; Hue team ranked third (7 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 10 bronze medals). Host Ninh Binh with 32 players participated, won 6 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 24 bronze medals, ranking 5th overall.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Chess Federation, the fact that Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City won the majority of championships clearly reflects the quality of the systematic and stable youth training of these two units. He also assessed that this year's tournament had a record number of athletes and was scientifically organized, which is a positive signal for the development of the youth chess movement nationwide.

In addition to the fierce competitions, within the framework of the tournament, the Vietnam Chess Federation held a Ceremony to Honor and Support young athletes with outstanding achievements and players who overcame difficulties to pursue their passion. This was also the first time that the "Vietnam Chess Young Talent Support Fund" - an initiative established by sponsor Doppelherz in association with the Federation - officially disbursed funds.

At the ceremony, 30 outstanding young players were awarded the Honor Cup (sponsored by OEM Group) and 2 million VND in cash. At the same time, 10 players who overcame difficulties and achieved good results were awarded special support, each worth 10 million VND, to further motivate them in their journey to pursue professional chess.
