Update on domestic pepper prices today, July 8, 2025: Pepper prices gradually cool down

As of 4:30 a.m. today (July 8, 2025), domestic pepper prices in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions recorded some slight fluctuations, ranging from 140,000 - 144,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, in the Central Highlands, Dak Lak province continued to maintain the highest price in the region at VND144,000/kg, unchanged from the previous day. Gia Lai and Dak Nong recorded prices of VND140,000/kg and VND141,000/kg, respectively, a slight increase of VND1,000/kg compared to the previous day.

In the Southeast region, Ba Ria - Vung Tau saw pepper prices increase by VND2,000 to VND142,000/kg, while Binh Phuoc also increased by VND1,000 to VND141,000/kg.

Thus, the pepper market today tends to increase slightly in some localities, showing the market's revival in the context of stable demand. Farmers and businesses need to continue to closely monitor price developments to have appropriate production and business plans in the coming time.

Update on world pepper prices today, July 8, 2025: Fluctuating within the range of 6,250 - 11,750 USD/ton

In the world market, pepper prices for the week from July 7 to July 12, 2025 at 4:00 a.m. have not shown the latest developments in pepper prices today, July 8, 2025, among major exporting countries.

In Vietnam and Brazil, pepper export prices remained stable. Specifically, Vietnamese black pepper 500 g/l and 550 g/l recorded at 6,240 - 6,370 USD/ton, while ASTA white pepper fluctuated around 8,950 USD/ton. Brazil also maintained stable prices, with ASTA 570 black pepper at 6,250 USD/ton.

Meanwhile, Malaysia continued to be stable in price, with ASTA black pepper reaching USD 8,900/ton and ASTA white pepper remaining at USD 11,750/ton.

The highlight was the Indonesian market, where pepper prices remained stable but at a high level, with black pepper reaching 7,541 USD/ton and white pepper recording 10,187 USD/ton.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper remained unchanged at 10,187 USD/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA white pepper continued to move sideways at 11,750 USD/ton, while the export price of Vietnamese white pepper reached 8,950 USD/ton.

Pepper price assessment and forecast: Vietnam pepper export volume decreased but price increased strongly to a record level

According to a preliminary report from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), by the end of June 2025, Vietnam had exported a total of 124,133 tons of pepper of all kinds. Of which, black pepper accounted for the majority with 105,939 tons, while white pepper reached 18,194 tons. The total export value reached 850.5 million USD, of which black pepper brought in 704.1 million USD and white pepper contributed 146.4 million USD.

Compared to the same period last year, the volume of pepper exports decreased by 12.9%, but the export value increased sharply by 34.1%. The main reason came from the average export price in the first 6 months of the year reaching 6,852 USD/ton, an increase of 54% compared to the same period last year.

In the first half of 2025, pepper exports to the Americas, Europe and Africa all witnessed a significant decline with decreases of 26.9%, 21% and 16% respectively. In contrast, the Asian market had a slight growth of 3%.

The US remained Vietnam's largest pepper consumer, accounting for 23.6% of total export volume with 27,463 tons, although down 26.6% year-on-year. Other important markets included China with 9,293 tons, up 24.7% and accounting for 7.5%; India with 8,804 tons, up 7.7% and accounting for 7.1%; UAE with 8,747 tons, up 4.3%; while Germany decreased 24% with 7,239 tons.

The top exporters in the first half of the year included Olam Vietnam with 12,388 tons, accounting for 10% of the market share but down 6.7% year-on-year. They were followed by Nedspice Vietnam with 10,604 tons, up 2.5%; Phuc Sinh with 10,232 tons, up 8.2%; Tran Chau and Haprosimex JSC exported 6,624 tons and 6,460 tons, down 26.9% and 35.7%, respectively.

On the other hand, in the first 6 months of 2025, Vietnam imported 28,296 tons of pepper of all kinds, with a total value of 174.1 million USD. Of which, black pepper accounted for 23,537 tons and white pepper was 4,759 tons. Compared to the same period last year, the import volume increased sharply by 57.2%, the import value increased by 150.1%.

The three largest pepper suppliers to Vietnam were Brazil with 14,904 tons, Cambodia with 6,257 tons and Indonesia with 5,574 tons. Compared to the same period, imports from Brazil increased by 105.8%, from Cambodia by a slight 0.7% and from Indonesia by 86.4%.

Key importers included Olam Vietnam with 6,433 tonnes, Pearl 2,524 tonnes and Nedspice Vietnam 1,809 tonnes.
