Nearly 400 billion VND to build a 5-star international hospital in Hue

This is one of five special-class hospitals selected by the Government and the Ministry of Health to upgrade to become an international-standard hospital.

According to Prof. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, the Hue Central International Hospital Phase 2 project has a total investment of nearly 300 billion VND for construction and nearly 100 billion VND for medical equipment. After construction, the hospital will be able to accommodate 300 more beds meeting 5-star international standards.

The hospital has an investment scale of a 6-storey building and 1 basement, with a total floor area of 21,000 m2, fully equipped with modern medical equipment. The estimated time from the start of construction to completion is 700 days.

Prof. Pham Nhu Hiep emphasized that the construction of the International Hospital Phase 2 will contribute to the development of Hue Central Hospital with an international brand, a high-class medical center. At the same time, this is also a center for training high-quality medical human resources meeting the standards of hospitals in Southeast Asia and internationally.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Hue Central Hospital is regularly ranked among the top in terms of quality according to the results of the Ministry of Health's 83 criteria assessment, with a green-clean-beautiful environment. The hospital has been selected by the Government and the Ministry of Health as one of the five special-class hospitals to be upgraded, becoming an international-standard hospital.

Ms. Huong said that in recent years, many foreigners have chosen Vietnam to use medical services because of its high treatment efficiency and much lower costs compared to other countries. Medical tourism is a trend for many foreigners and this is an opportunity for Vietnam. Therefore, Hue Central International Hospital has many advantages to become a center for high-quality health care tourism.

Hue Central Hospital was established in 1894. After 130 years of establishment and development, Hue Central Hospital is now a special-class hospital with 3 facilities, a scale of over 5,000 beds and over 4,100 employees.

Every year, the hospital receives nearly 1 million domestic and international patients for examination and treatment; performs nearly 50,000 surgeries. The hospital has implemented many new techniques applied in various specialties, especially organ transplants (nearly 2,000 cases), including many cross-Vietnam organ transplants (leading the country).

The International Hospital (Phase 1) of Hue Central Hospital was inaugurated in 2014, the first international standard medical facility in Vietnam in a public hospital, with a scale of 300 beds.
