At the end of 2024, Ford officially sold the upgraded version of the Equator Sport compact SUV in the Chinese market. After this billion-people market, Ford's C-size SUV continued to expand its market. One of the first markets outside of China to receive the upgraded version of this model is Brazil. Similar to the car in Vietnam, the Ford Equator Sport in the Brazilian market has also been renamed Territory. Compared to the Equator Sport currently sold in China, the Ford Territory in Brazil in particular and globally in general has some minor changes in exterior design.
Expected to arrive at Ford dealerships in Brazil next month, the facelifted Territory also gets a redesigned front end, similar to the Equator Sport in China. In this region, the old split headlights are gone. Instead, there is a new grille with eye-catching chrome motifs and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The front and rear bumpers have details painted in the same color as the body instead of black like the Ford Equator Sport in China. The car still has the same length of 4,685 mm but is equipped with new 19-inch wheels and chrome door handles. In the Chinese market, the new Ford Equator Sport uses 20-inch wheels in the high-end version. Inside, the 2025 Ford Territory retains the familiar interior design with a dual 12.3-inch display cluster for the clock and entertainment system. Ford also adds new color schemes for the seats and a variety of trim material options. Specific equipment details will be announced when the car is officially launched in this South American market.
The mid-life upgrade of the Ford Territory does not come with major engine improvements. Therefore, the car in the Brazilian market is likely to still use the 1.5L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 166 horsepower and a maximum torque of 260 Nm. The 2025 Ford Territory in Brazil is still only available with front-wheel drive (FWD) combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Ford Equator Sport in China has a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine option. The 2025 Ford Territory in the Brazilian market has only one version introduced, Titanium. The selling price of this C-size SUV has not been announced yet, while the current version has a starting price of 215,000 Real (about 1.02 billion VND), significantly more expensive than the car in Vietnam.
The facelifted Territory was first introduced at the Interlagos Festival in São Paulo, Brazil. Ford said sales of the model in the Samba country quadrupled last year, surpassing the 5,000 mark. With the new version coming soon, that number could continue to rise. Not only stopping in Brazil, the new Ford Territory is also expected to reach many other global markets such as Argentina, Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. In recent months, the new version of Ford Territory has also been continuously tested on the streets of Vietnam. This is a sign that the launch date is not far away.
