Dong Thap speeds up progress of key projects

The Bao Dinh River Road Project is one of the key projects that the province is implementing. According to the Dong Thap Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project has a total investment of nearly VND2,000 billion; of which, the estimated cost of site clearance is more than VND726 billion.

Component project 2 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Construction Project Phase 1 is being accelerated.

The project has 5 construction packages, and will implement many items. Currently, the project has implemented 2 construction packages at the beginning of the route with a total value of nearly 525 billion VND. Currently, due to the construction site not being fully handed over, the progress of the construction package phase 1 has only reached 63.02% of the value, and the construction package phase 2 has reached 61.43% of the value.

The project encountered many difficulties in terms of construction site. In the past, contractors had gathered enough machinery, materials and equipment, but due to the incomplete and discontinuous construction site, it affected the construction progress of the construction packages being implemented.

According to Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang, identifying key projects as a breakthrough, creating conditions for socio -economic development, provincial leaders surveyed the province's works and projects. On July 10, provincial leaders surveyed 2 key projects.

In particular, the Bao Dinh River Road Project has an important meaning in urban beautification, creating an urban face in the inner city of Dong Thap Province Administrative Center. The second project is Provincial Road 864 (Road along Tien River).

“In addition, we also inspected and surveyed other projects, industrial parks and clusters such as: Soai Rap Petroleum Service Industrial Park; Gia Thuan 1, 2 Industrial Cluster; Binh Dong Industrial Park.

The spirit is that provincial leaders go to inspect to urge related units, any problems will be focused on to be resolved to handle thoroughly. This is to complete the project on schedule, promote efficiency, and avoid wasting resources.

When completed, these projects will be a condition for socio-economic development, attracting resources for the province to develop. Regarding the site clearance work, the province's viewpoint is to resolve any problems that arise. However, the spirit is the responsibility of the responsible unit to act resolutely and responsibly.

The province will monitor, urge, direct and the unit will be responsible if there is a delay in progress for these tasks" - comrade Tran Tri Quang added.

To ensure the completion of the two packages on schedule, the investor is urging contractors to focus on speeding up the construction progress. At the same time, it continues to coordinate with the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in Region 4 and local authorities in implementing compensation, support and resettlement for the project.

Component 2 of Provincial Road 864 Project (Tien River Road) is also one of the key projects that the province is implementing. According to the Dong Thap Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, Component 2 has a total investment of over VND 2,173 billion.

The total length of the route is about 44 km; of which, about 21 km will be newly built, about 9.5 km will be upgraded and expanded, and about 13.5 km will be fully utilized. Currently, Component 2 has been completed and put into use the section from National Highway 50 to Provincial Road 877B and Vam Giong Bridge. The project is also implementing the section from Long Binh to Den Do.

The total length of this section is about 14.79 km, and construction started on June 26, 2025. The section from Den Do to Tan Thanh alone has a total length of about 3.9 km, with a cost of about 60 billion VND; this section is currently undergoing site clearance. The total investment is about 114 billion VND.

Currently, the investor is focusing on urging contractors to speed up the progress of the newly deployed packages, ensuring completion on schedule and quality, contributing to connecting and creating momentum for the province's socio-economic development.

LAUNCHING CONSTRUCTION COMPETITION FOR BIDDING PACKAGES

Along with Provincial Road 864 Project, Component Project 2 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Construction Project Phase 1 is a project of strategic significance in the socio-economic development of the province. The project is about 11.43 km long, starting at the intersection with Component Project 1 at Km16+000, ending at the intersection with Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway at about Km98+950 (about 1.8 km from An Thai Trung intersection).

Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang inspected the progress of the Bao Dinh River Road Project.

The project has a total investment of VND 3,856 billion, and construction will begin on August 27, 2024. The project implementation period is from 2022 to 2027. The total capital plan allocated to date is VND 2,941 billion; the cumulative disbursement of the project to date is VND 2,338 billion/VND 2,941 billion, reaching 79.49%.

Currently, the joint venture of contractors is implementing 40 construction projects. For the route, contractors are constructing service roads, filling sand, installing wicks and loading to treat weak soil. For the bridge construction, contractors continue to test pile driving, mass pile driving, construct substructures, produce beams, install beams; and construct continuous floor beams (treating weak soil with engineering solutions). The value of completed construction as of July 8 is about VND875.2 billion/VND2,451 billion, reaching 35.7% of the construction value.

To speed up the project progress, recently, the Dong Thap Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board coordinated with the joint venture of supervision consultants and the joint venture of construction contractors to organize the launching ceremony of the peak emulation campaign to speed up the construction progress of the construction package of Component Project 2 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, welcoming the Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Accordingly, the parties commit to completing the main items from now until October 10, 2025. Specifically, regarding the road, the parties strive to complete the embankment and loading of weak soil treatment sections and the entire route before August 25, 2025 (except for locations with land clearance problems); mobilize crushed stone aggregate to the construction site to proactively provide materials and use them as roadbed loading materials.

Regarding the bridges, the parties strive to basically complete all girder installation work on the bridges on the route by October 10, 2025 and commit to completing all main structures of the bridges by December 31, 2025 (except for locations where construction has not been possible due to site clearance).

At the same time, strictly implement current construction regulations, ensure quality and progress of construction; ensure traffic safety, labor safety and environmental sanitation. The investor, the joint venture of supervision consultants, the joint venture of contractors are determined to mobilize maximum human, material and financial resources to launch a competition to complete all the above items of the package to ensure quality, labor safety and environmental sanitation.

According to the leader of the Dong Thap Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, in order to ensure the progress and quality of Component 2 Project under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the unit is urgently coordinating with the Region 3 Construction Investment Project Management Board to complete the site clearance work to contribute to ensuring the overall progress of the project. At the same time, closely inspect and manage the construction process of the construction contractor consortium.
