MU need support from the Government to build the new Old Trafford stadium.

Chief Executive Omar Berrada has confirmed that the 100,000-seat stadium project will only go ahead if United receive a commitment to invest from the Government.

Speaking in fan magazine Red Issue , Mr Berrada stressed: "We see the stadium as a catalyst for the wider regeneration project. So we really need the Government to commit to developing the surrounding area for the plan to make sense."

According to Daily Mail , MU cannot pay for a super project whose benefits spread to the entire community without the support of government funding.

The plan, announced by United earlier this year, is not simply to build a new stadium next to the historic Old Trafford. It is part of a large-scale regeneration project, including 17,000 homes, shops, restaurants and hotels, which promises to boost the UK economy by £7.3 billion.

Visions for the new stadium are impressive, with renderings revealing a giant LED screen surrounding the pitch, a three-storey museum and a bustling fans' village with canalside restaurants.

A big advantage of the plan is that MU can continue to play at Old Trafford during the construction process. After moving to the new home, the "Red Devils" can demolish the "Theatre of Dreams".

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said Old Trafford had served the club well, but was "falling behind the best in the world ." Building a modern stadium now would "preserve the essence of Old Trafford" while creating a top-notch experience for fans.
