“This is Ha Tinh Radio Station…”

(Baohatinh.vn) - At exactly 5:30 a.m. on September 1, 1991, Ha Tinh radio waves rang out: "This is Ha Tinh Radio Station" and at 7:45 p.m. the same day, television waves were broadcast from the Ha Tinh City television rebroadcast station.

Two important events occurred at the right time marking the milestone of the province's re-establishment, and at the same time, Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station broadcasted radio and television programs for the first time.

I was a cadre serving in the B battlefield during the fierce years of the resistance war against the US, and then I was one of the pioneers in establishing the Vietnam News Agency in Ho Chi Minh City after the liberation. In 1980, when everything at the News Agency gradually got back on track, I was transferred to work at Nghe Tinh Radio and Television Station according to my personal wishes.

The press has accompanied the development of Ha Tinh through the years of history.

On August 16, 1991, the Board of Directors of Nghe Tinh Radio and Television Station established a team of technical staff including: Mr. Nguyen Nieng - Deputy Director, Mr. Ho Duc Binh - Head of Radio Engineering Department, Messrs. Le Van Loang, Truong Cong Xan, Nguyen Van Hung, Nguyen Van Thanh and I returned to Ha Tinh to build Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station. The assets we brought along were only 1 XF-D7 shortwave radio, upgraded to medium wave, 1 KW capacity, 2 specialized tape recorders, 1 10 KW generator, several oil pipes and bimetallic wires. All were old equipment.

On the anniversary of the August Revolution in 1991, we set off for Ha Tinh town. Although we were no longer as eager to leave as we were when we served on the battlefield, we could not help but feel moved when we shouldered the heavy responsibility of a son to rebuild his homeland. Ha Tinh town at that time was just like Mai Hong Nien wrote in his poem: "The day of returning, the streets were muddy and wild with grass". It seemed that the town had been sleeping for 15 years since the province was merged. And we, those who had participated in the battle, those who had joined hands to rebuild the country after the war, were once again determined to rebuild our homeland...

Compared to other agencies, we were still lucky to have the Ha Tinh Radio Station return the 2-storey office building. This was the premises of Ha Tinh Radio Station before it merged with the province and this was also the only 2-storey house in Ha Tinh City at that time. With the help of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trien - then Head of Ha Tinh Radio Station, we quickly settled down. The next day, the whole group immediately got to work. We encouraged each other to work hard, erecting poles, pulling wires, installing equipment, working day and night. Although very tired, everyone felt happy and proud to be the first to roll up their sleeves to rebuild Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station.

In the beginning, the announcer of Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station worked in extremely difficult conditions.

At exactly 5:30 a.m. on September 1, 1991, Ha Tinh radio waves rang out: "This is Ha Tinh Radio Station" and at 7:45 p.m. on the same day, Ha Tinh television waves were broadcast from the Ha Tinh Town television rebroadcast station. The radio and television waves were spread, right at the time of the milestone of re-establishing Ha Tinh province, a major event of the local Party Committee and People. This was also a turning point in the technology of Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station. A new page opened, Ha Tinh had its own radio and television station.

10 years after its re-establishment, with the attention of the province and the tireless efforts of the cadres at that time, Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station had many filming and program production equipment, 5 KW HARISS television transmitters, 10 KW HARISS medium-wave radio transmitters, and the level of technical staff was also continuously improved, thereby maximizing the capacity of the equipment and machinery, serving the propaganda task. Thanks to that, the quality of radio and television waves is increasingly reaching further and clearer.

But because it is a province with complex terrain, even if the broadcasting capacity is increased, it is still not possible to cover the whole province. To do that, the only solution is to occupy the Thien Tuong peak on the Ngan Hong range. After many worries and many efforts to consult, in 2002, the Provincial People's Committee decided to allow investment in the construction of the Thien Tuong Broadcasting Station. A series of issues were raised such as: how to pull the high voltage power line to the top of the mountain, how to effectively protect against lightning, where is the water source for people's daily activities... and then after many meetings and discussions between related units, the most optimal choice was reached: the electric poles were transported to the top by specialized vehicles and then gradually lowered down, a series of lightning protection systems for antennas, electric poles and spider web lightning protection systems that spread quickly, building a large, crack-proof, waterproof water tank to hold rainwater for daily activities.

Technical staff prepare to install microwave equipment to transmit signals to Thien Tuong in 2003.

After more than 1 year of hard work, overcoming the hardships and difficulties of the high and steep mountainous terrain, on October 18, 2003, the inauguration ceremony was held. The 2 KW transmitter officially started broadcasting local television. The remote areas of Duc Tho, Huong Son, Vu Quang, Huong Khe, Nghi Xuan districts have clearly received Ha Tinh television signals, ending the situation in some areas where people could not follow the daily news of their province.

In the context at that time, this was a breakthrough in television coverage across the entire administrative boundaries of the province. Not only that, people in Vinh City and many districts of Nghe An could also watch Ha Tinh television.

Realizing that this was an ideal terrestrial broadcasting point, Voice of Vietnam immediately installed a 10 KW FM radio transmitter broadcasting on 102.7 MHz frequency. Vietnam Television also installed a K9 transmitter broadcasting VTV2.

With the rapid development of digital technology, PT&TH waves have been transmitted through multimedia, especially via the internet, providing users with the most convenient options. However, Thien Tuong TV broadcasting point still plays an important role, promoting the effectiveness of digital terrestrial technology, helping people, especially those with economic difficulties, to easily access and regularly follow national and local programs.
