Located about 15 nautical miles (equivalent to nearly 30 km) from the mainland, Ly Son Special Economic Zone has a natural area of over 10.3 km², including two main islands, Dao Lon and Dao Be, with a population of over 24,000 people (as of June 2025). People mainly live on seafood exploitation, garlic and onion cultivation according to the traditional agricultural model, tourism services and some handicrafts. In recent years, tourism has become a key economic sector in Ly Son. With its pristine landscape, majestic nature, reasonable costs and hospitable people, Ly Son attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the special zone welcomed nearly 82,000 visitors, an increase of 12.3% over the same period last year. Of which, there were 1,171 international visitors - a positive signal for the direction of expanding the international tourism market. Ly Son made its mark with many large-scale activities such as: The flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the year and welcoming the first group of visitors, Quang Ngai Tourism Week, a series of cultural and sports events on the islands... Now, when becoming a special zone, Ly Son is expected to have a special mechanism, opening up development opportunities. In the flow of innovation, each step of Ly Son has strategic significance - both protecting sovereignty and arousing the desire to go offshore and get rich from the sea.
