Representatives of many petroleum businesses predict that gasoline prices are expected to decrease by about VND1,200 - 1,400 per liter, while diesel prices may decrease by VND900 - 1,000 per liter during the adjustment period on the afternoon of July 3. If the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance use the price stabilization fund, gasoline prices may decrease even more.
The reason is that the world crude oil price continues to decrease this time. On June 30, the price of imported gasoline in the Singapore market was at 79.2 USD/barrel for RON95 gasoline, down more than 3 USD/barrel compared to 6 days ago; RON92 gasoline was at 77.39 USD/barrel, down nearly 4 USD/barrel.
The Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI)'s gasoline price forecast model also shows that in the management period this afternoon, July 3, retail gasoline prices may decrease by 6.8 - 7.5% compared to the previous management period.
VPI forecasts that the retail price of E5 RON92 gasoline may only decrease by VND1,412 (6.9%) to VND19,118/liter, while RON95 gasoline may only decrease by VND1,440 (6.8%) to VND19,670/liter.
Kerosene prices may decrease by 7.5% to VND17,631/liter, fuel oil may decrease by 7.2% to VND15,730/kg, and diesel may decrease by 7.1% to VND17,977/liter.
If the above forecast is correct, gasoline prices will decrease for the second consecutive time this week. On July 1, gasoline prices began to be reduced by 2% VAT (to 8%). Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance adjusted the price of E5 RON92 gasoline down by VND101/liter compared to the previous period, not higher than VND20,530/liter; and reduced the price of RON95 gasoline by VND128/liter, not higher than VND21,116/liter.
Meanwhile, oil prices increased in the opposite direction. Specifically, diesel prices increased by VND193/liter compared to the previous period, not higher than VND19,349/liter. Kerosene prices increased by VND141/liter compared to the previous period, not higher than VND19,064/liter. However, fuel oil prices decreased by VND668/kg, not higher than VND16,955/kg.
Since the beginning of 2025, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 25 adjustment sessions, including 9 decrease sessions, 11 increase sessions and 5 opposite sessions.
World oil prices
Recorded on Oilprice at 5:30 a.m. on July 3 (Vietnam time), Brent oil price was at 68.72 USD/barrel, up 1.59 USD/barrel, WTI oil price was at 67.0 USD/barrel, up 1.59 USD/barrel.
Since June 25, Brent prices have fluctuated between $66.34 and $69.05 per barrel, as concerns about supply disruptions from the Middle East subsided after Iran and Israel reached a ceasefire.
Oil prices today were also supported by news that President Donald Trump confirmed that the US and Vietnam have reached a trade agreement.
However, the oil price rally was halted after the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced that domestic crude oil inventories unexpectedly increased by 3.8 million barrels last week, bringing total reserves to 419 million barrels.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a decline of 1.8 million barrels. At the same time, U.S. gasoline demand fell to 8.6 million barrels per day, raising concerns about consumption during the peak summer driving season.
