The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new days" took place on July 5 and 6 in Hanoi , gathering 574 athletes to participate. The Organizing Committee said that all fees collected from athletes (at 500,000 VND/person) will not be used to cover the organization costs but will be used to support the construction of 5 Charity houses, helping 5 households with especially difficult circumstances in Cao Bang.
The "Dan Tri 20 Years - Bright New Day" pickleball tournament took place on July 5 and 6 and ended with 505 intense, fierce and emotional matches. Thereby, the tournament determined 9 pairs of athletes (athletes) to be champions in the competition events.
1. Le Thi Hoang Yen, Nguyen Nam (Mixed and Women's Doubles, Dan Tri Lead)

In the mixed doubles event of Dan Tri Lead held on the morning of July 5, the athlete couple Le Thi Hoang Yen (Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department) and Nguyen Nam excellently defeated the couple Minh Tiep and Linh with a score of 11-6 to win the championship.
Sharing after winning the title, athlete Hoang Yen could not hide her happiness: “I feel very happy. I really tried my best to win the championship. I hurt my leg during the match but still tried my best to compete. My opponents in the semi-finals and finals all played very well. We tried to cherish every point to surpass them. I feel very happy to win the championship.
Before the tournament, I had only participated in a few small tournaments. This was my first time participating in a professional tournament of such a large scale. Luckily, we won the championship. After winning the championship, I was even more motivated to practice.”
Meanwhile, Nguyen Nam, who played very well in this tournament, shared: “This is the first time the two sisters have competed together. I find the level of this tournament quite high. The opponents are all very difficult. I am also very happy to be able to overcome my opponents to win the championship.”
2. Nguyen Anh Tu, Nguyen Nam Son (Men's Doubles, Dan Tri Lead)

In the Dan Tri Lead men's doubles event on the morning of July 5, the pair of athletes Anh Tu - Nam Son won a dramatic 15-13 victory over the pair The Phu - Minh Tan. Sharing after winning the championship, athlete Anh Tu said: "I am very excited to participate in the tournament of Dan Tri, a famous media agency. Although I am 50 years old, I still tried to register to participate. Being able to go to the final match and win the championship makes me extremely excited.
I would like to thank Dan Tri newspaper for creating such a wonderful playground for pickleball lovers. I feel I deserve to win this championship.”
Meanwhile, athlete Nam Son said: “This is the first major tournament I have participated in and was lucky to win an award. This is a very good, interesting and useful tournament for the community. We were down 9-4 in the final match but both of us had good spirit and did not give up. The opponents in the Dan Tri Lead category were of quite good quality. However, we were the ones who deserved to win the championship.”
3. Phan Phuong Linh, Nguyen Que An (Women's doubles 4.5)
In their first time participating in a tournament that gathered many excellent athletes such as the Dan Tri newspaper pickleball tournament, the couple Phuong Linh - Que An impressed when they won the women's doubles 4.5 championship after a 15-6 victory over the athlete couple Nguyen Ngai - Ngoc Luu.

"The championship felt like a dream. It felt so great because our training efforts had paid off. Winning the championship in this tournament was not easy, especially in the semi-final match, there were times when we were behind and thought we would be eliminated. In the final match, we encouraged each other to play calmly, exploiting the opponent's weaknesses to score points. In the end, we succeeded. Thank you for everyone's great support," athlete Phuong Linh shared after winning the championship.
Athlete Que An also expressed his joy: "Happiness is hard to describe in words. Winning a professional tournament like this is great, winning a tournament with humanitarian significance like Dan Tri newspaper will be an unforgettable memory."
4. Quoc Khanh, Vo Minh Luan (Men's Doubles Open)
The biggest surprise on the first day of competition (July 5) belonged to the pair Quoc Khanh - Vo Minh Luan when the two athletes from Tien Giang excellently defeated the famous pair Dat "tro" - Trieu "cầu bóng" to win the Open men's doubles event and win the highest prize of the tournament (50 million VND).

Sharing after creating the surprise, Quoc Khanh said: “I am extremely happy. It is difficult to describe my feelings at this moment. I have become the champion. We discussed with each other that we would hit many balls towards Dat. We encouraged each other with each ball. It seems that the opponent also had psychological problems."
Meanwhile, Minh Luan shared: "Before entering the match, Khanh and I just encouraged each other to play as hard as we could. In the end, we successfully won. Actually, I think this tournament is quite grand. Dan Tri Newspaper organized the tournament very well. If the newspaper continues to organize the tournament again, the two of us will fly from the South to participate again."
5. Si Boi Ngoc, Tran Huyen Trang (Women's Open Doubles)
In the final match of the Open women's doubles event held on the evening of July 5, the two athletes Si Boi Ngoc and Tran Huyen Trang easily defeated the pair Ngoc Be and Ngoc Tho (full names Nguyen Minh Ngoc and Tran Tue Ngoc) with a score of 15-5 to win the championship of the tournament.

The tournament is professional from medical care support, competition hours, dedicated referee team as well as the support of very modern VAR technology," athlete Si Boi Ngoc expressed.
Athlete Huyen Trang shared: "Before the tournament, I promised that if I won the Open women's doubles, after sharing the prize money with Boi Ngoc, I would share half of my prize money to support people in difficult circumstances through the Dan Tri Newspaper Charity Fund.
I would also be very happy to join Dan Tri in inaugurating 5 charity houses from the tournament's support. This is a very meaningful tournament with a very humane goal, and my whole family of 4 people are participating in this tournament."
6. Tran Anh Tuan, Nguyen Truong Son (Dan Tri & Friends)
In the final match of the Dan Tri & Friends category on the afternoon of July 6, the athlete pair Tran Anh Tuan - Nguyen Truong Son (Vietnam Television) won 15-1 against the artist athlete pair Ngoc Anh Kim and Ba Ngoc.

Sharing after winning the championship, athlete Anh Tuan appeared extremely happy. He said: “The Dan Tri newspaper tournament is the biggest among the grassroots tournaments I have ever participated in. The players had a lot of fun and interacted enthusiastically. I feel lucky to win first prize today. I would like to thank the organizers for creating an interesting playground for athletes who love pickleball.
The fact that our opponent was injured before the match was considered an advantage for us. I felt a little sorry for our opponent when he had an accident before the final match. Ba Ngoc also tried very hard in the last match."
Athlete Truong Son talked about the strategy to win the championship: “This is a tournament with quite high professional quality. We went through many very tense matches, many of which had to come from behind to win.
That achievement comes from our training and research. This is a sport that is quite tactical, like the chess that my son plays. It is not just about hitting hard and competing fiercely that we win. Applying reasonable tactics for each match helps us to get through many difficult moments. This is an emotional championship."
7. Le Bach Hop, Phan Nhung (Women's doubles 5.0)
In the 5.0 women's doubles event taking place on the afternoon of July 6, Phan Nhung - Bach Hop defeated Ngoc Diem - Thu Hang with a score of 15-9 to be crowned champion in the final event for women at the Dan Tri newspaper pickleball tournament.

Athlete Phan Nhung expressed: "We feel very happy, having succeeded in achieving the goal set before this tournament, which was to stand on the highest podium. This is a very difficult tournament with many excellent athletes participating.
Our journey to the championship was not easy, there was even a time when we thought we would be eliminated in the second round when we met two young female athletes who played very confidently and strongly. They were young, but we were lucky to have better competition experience to win. The final was also not easy, fortunately we overcame the difficult times to win the championship."
Meanwhile, athlete Bach Hop said: "We have trained very carefully before this tournament to have the best form when entering the tournament. This is a truly professional tournament, the Organizing Committee supports the athletes very well in all aspects. The championship will become the motivation for us to continue to conquer the next goals."
8. Le Dang Khoa, Le Phu (Men's doubles 5.5)
In the men's doubles category 5.5, after many intense matches in the qualifying round, the pair of athletes Le Dang Khoa - Le Phu advanced to the finals to meet the pair Tran Ngoc Tuan - Tran Le on the evening of July 6. As a result, the pair Le Dang Khoa - Le Phu won 15-3 to win the championship cup.

Sharing after winning the championship, athlete Le Dang Khoa appeared extremely happy. He said: “I cannot describe my feelings right now. I am extremely happy to participate in such a big tournament and win the championship. The two brothers coordinated well and played very well today. To reach the final match, we had to go through a very long journey. The teams had to compete in 7-8 matches. We were also lucky to be young. Our opponents were old but they played their best.”
Athlete Le Phu shared: “I am very happy to participate in the Dan Tri pickleball tournament. This is a very large-scale tournament, with careful preparation. The media aspect of the tournament also impressed me. Today, we competed in two events 6.5 and 5.5. Fortunately, the two brothers won the championship in the 5.5 event. We will try to practice to reach a higher level, maybe participate in the Open or 6.5 event organized by Dan Tri newspaper in the future.”
9. Le Viet Hung, Nguyen Dang Dung (Men's doubles 6.5)
On the evening of July 6, the final event of the "Dan Tri 20 Years - New Bright Days" pickleball tournament witnessed the pair Le Viet Hung (born in 1991) and Nguyen Dang Dung (born in 1988) crowned champions when they excellently defeated the pair Huy Hoang - Duc Hung with a score of 15-5 in the final match of the men's doubles 6.5.

"We were very lucky to have traveled more than 300km and won the championship this time. The feeling after the victory was really happy and joyful. We both always encouraged each other to try our best in each match. There were many difficult times but we knew how to overcome them. The opponents in the matches were all very strong as the Organizing Committee judged very closely," athlete Viet Hung expressed his joy after the victory.
Athlete Dang Dung shared: "Participating in this tournament, I was impressed by the dedication of the Organizing Committee, from the professional organization style to the way of running each match. I will definitely register if Dan Tri organizes the next tournament."
