On July 2, the Ba Diem Commune Police, Ho Chi Minh City, issued a notice to search for relatives of a newborn baby girl whose umbilical cord was still attached and who was found abandoned on the bank of a canal in Hamlet 22, Ba Diem Commune, Ho Chi Minh City. The newborn girl was fortunately saved.

Earlier, at around 2:30 a.m. the same day, Mr. Pham Qui Tuan (born in 1991, residing in Tien Lan 5 hamlet, Ba Diem commune) went to the market early to get goods to sell. Passing by the canal above, he saw a newborn baby girl wrapped in a pile of old clothes crying loudly, surrounded by insects. Seeing that the newborn baby girl was still alive, Mr. Tuan immediately stopped going to the market, took the baby home and called the police.
Ba Diem Commune Police arrived at the scene to record the incident and coordinated with authorities to take the newborn girl to Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital for emergency care.
