YouTube removes timer before ad skipping

Advertising is considered the main source of income for content creators on YouTube, so in the future, YouTube may not let users have a smooth experience even if they accept to spend the first few seconds watching ads.

The countdown before users can skip an ad on YouTube may be disappearing in the future, Android Police says.

Recently, when using the desktop version of the app, a gray rectangle appears over the timer when an ad appears. This also appears on the Android phone version. However, instead of the gray rectangle over the timer, the phone version no longer has a timer. Even though there is no timer, the skip ad button will still appear after a certain amount of time.

It seems like this is a deliberate move by YouTube to make users believe in non-skippable ads.

In fact, YouTube wants people to see more ads because it makes money. And it also attracts users to subscribe to its ad-free Premium service.

The ad-free Premium service plan was launched in 2018. However, after its launch, YouTube received many negative responses from free users about the increased number of ads.
