Báo Dân ViệtBáo Dân Việt23/05/2024

Specifically, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently (May 23) in the Northwest Pacific region (east of the southern Philippines), there is a tropical depression; the position at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (May 23, 2024) of the tropical depression is at about 07.1N-132.0E.

Currently, the tropical depression is moving in a West-Northwest direction; it is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West direction, then change direction to the Northwest and is likely to strengthen into a storm (when strengthening into a storm, this will be the first storm in the Northwest Pacific region).

This is a sign that the storm season in the Northwest Pacific region has begun. Statistics show that every May in the Northwest Pacific region, there are about 1.3 storms/tropical depressions appearing.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that after strengthening, storm No. 01 in the Northwest Pacific will move mainly in a northwest direction along the eastern region of the Philippines, then likely move in a north-northeast direction and then go back to the Northwest Pacific.

Currently, the forecast of the International Typhoon Forecast Center shows that the storm will go to the deepest west (entering the meridian about 123E) and then change direction to go out.

"Current assessment is that the possibility of the storm entering the East Sea is not high. The impact of the storm causing strong winds and heavy rains on the eastern part of the East Sea is also very low," the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said.

However, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting is still closely monitoring the developments of this tropical depression, which has strengthened into a storm.
