Nguyen Dieu Linh (born in 2007, in Vu Phuc ward, Hung Yen province) is one of 9 candidates nationwide who achieved a perfect score of 30/30 in this year's exam if considering traditional blocks such as: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), A01 (Math, Physics, English), C00 (Literature, History, Geography) and D01 (Math, Literature, English).
Self-study to break through
Born into a farming family with parents busy making a living, Nguyen Dieu Linh soon formed the habit of self-study. Without attending many extra classes, she proactively grasped knowledge right from class, found suitable materials to review, and studied in groups with friends.
Right from her early elementary years, Dieu Linh showed her ability to learn quickly and her special love for numbers. With her talent in Math, she was always in the group of outstanding students and was trusted by teachers to participate in excellent student competitions from primary to high school. In grade 12, she won third prize in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition in Math.
With 3 scores of 10 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Nguyen Dieu Linh (a female student from Nguyen Trai High School, Hung Yen province) is the valedictorian of block A00 nationwide in the 2025 high school graduation exam. |
“My strength in natural sciences is the basis for me to choose block A00 (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), with the desire to achieve high scores and pursue my favorite major at Foreign Trade University,” Linh said.
Despite her outstanding strength in Math, Dieu Linh always determined to study evenly to achieve high results in all 3 subjects in the A00 group. For Linh, the 3 subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry are not 3 separate parts but have a certain connection. The logical thinking approach from Math helps her solve Physics exercises faster. From understanding Chemistry, she learned more about observing phenomena and analyzing problems systematically.
“Of the three subjects, Physics is the one I find the most difficult. But I am lucky because my homeroom teacher for three years of high school is also my Physics teacher. She understands each student’s ability so she always supports me closely. Thanks to that, I feel like I am improving little by little,” Linh shared.
For Linh, the learning process is not a race, but a matter of perseverance. Throughout her 3 years in high school, Linh maintained a scientific study schedule. In addition to regular school hours, she spends about 3-4 hours a day studying on her own. She uses the breaks between classes to relax, chat with friends, or find positive content on social networks.
“Linh is a student with a high sense of self-study. She always tries to grasp knowledge in class, rarely having to ask questions again because she understands from the beginning. In studying, Linh is very modest, not rushing to achieve results but always being sure of each step,” commented Ms. Pham Thi Hue (Linh’s homeroom teacher).
Entering the final exam review period, Dieu Linh maintained the same study pace but increased the intensity of her review. She built for herself a “collection” of quality exam questions, including mock exams, sample exams, and advanced exam formats for each topic.
“I don’t focus on the number of questions but on doing each question carefully. After each time I do a test, I carefully review each wrong question, classify the types of questions, and find the cause of the error to avoid repeating it,” Linh shared.
This habit helps female students practice quick reflexes when taking multiple-choice tests, and at the same time form systematic thinking when dealing with long and highly differentiated questions.
Linh said that about half a month before the official exam, she fell into a "slow" period. Although she still studied seriously and did the test regularly, her score did not improve, causing her to feel pressured. At that time, the companionship of teachers, friends and family became the support that helped her regain her balance.
“I have a study group of 4 close friends. Two of them share the same dream of entering the Foreign Trade University as me. The whole group often practices together, discusses solutions, and helps each other overcome weaknesses in each subject. The group study atmosphere helps me feel more relaxed and less pressured,” the female student shared.
Not only does Linh have friends by her side, she also receives quiet and constant support from her family. Her parents work hard all year round in the fields and do not have many conditions to closely follow their daughter in her studies, but they always try to create the best conditions for her to study with peace of mind. A quiet study space, meals on time, lights always on every night... are the ways her parents silently accompany their daughter.

All of these companions became a solid support to help Linh stay calm and focused during the important exam. Each exam passed with a proactive attitude, she completed the test as she had practiced for 12 years of studying. When she finished the last exam, Linh felt relieved and satisfied.
“When she called to tell me her score, I was at work. When I heard she got 30 points, I was so happy that I cried. My husband and I only encouraged her to try our best, not to put pressure on her. I was surprised and proud to see her achieve such results. All the hardships and worries suddenly disappeared,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai (Linh’s mother).
“Foreign Trade University was my dream during my 3 years of high school”
Linh shared this when asked about her future orientation. Right from the first days of entering high school, she proactively sought information about universities, compared training programs between majors and clearly defined her goals. For Linh, Foreign Trade University is not only a quality training environment, but also a place to nurture an integrated mindset, opening up many opportunities for self-development.
“I like a dynamic and multidimensional environment. Foreign Trade University is where I think I can learn many skills, from professional to soft skills, and at the same time have access to a global perspective that I have always wanted to explore,” Linh said.
Linh's career goal is closely linked to her desire to become a solid support for her parents. For her, studying is a practical way to build a stable future, thereby sharing some of the economic burden with her parents.

With a perfect score of 30/30 and the desire to study at Foreign Trade University, the road ahead for Nguyen Dieu Linh is wide open. But for her, this journey has just begun. She did not choose to rest after the exam, but continued to prepare for a new journey full of aspirations, where knowledge and effort will continue to be the wings that help her fly far.
Sharing the “secret” to effective exam preparation, Nguyen Dieu Linh, the top student of the A00 group nationwide in 2025, said that the most important thing in the final stage is not only knowledge but also good mental preparation. According to her, even though they have accumulated a lot of learning material over the past 3 years, if they cannot stay calm and comfortable in the days leading up to the exam, it will be difficult for students to develop their full potential. Linh also noted that, during the multiple-choice test, candidates should practice the habit of reading carefully and underlining the main ideas of the questions. This helps avoid getting lost when solving highly differentiated questions, while saving time and limiting unnecessary errors. |
