Mr. Pham Dinh Vinh (Hanoi) - owner of a gasoline motorbike shop said that there were customers who had deposited money to buy motorbikes but asked for their deposits back because they heard about the ban on gasoline motorbikes - Photo: PHAM TUAN

Owning a gasoline motorbike shop in the above market with more than 300 motorbikes on display, Mr. Pham Dinh Vinh (Hanoi) said that in the days after the news that Hanoi banned gasoline motorbikes, the number of people buying motorbikes decreased significantly compared to before.

According to Mr. Vinh, there are cars that buyers have paid deposits for, but as soon as the information is available, customers immediately contact him to express their desire to get their deposit back.

"The current capital invested in the store is quite a lot. As a business person, I also hope that the ban on gasoline motorbikes will have a roadmap, extended so that we have the opportunity to prepare.

The policy of banning gasoline motorbikes is correct, but if it is applied from next year, it will be too urgent, we will not be able to react in time. Although Hanoi has talked about banning gasoline motorbikes a few times before, but it has passed, but now there is the above information, which has surprised everyone" - Mr. Vinh said.

Mr. Vinh added that his shop used to sell 7-10 motorbikes a day, but now it is "standing still". According to Mr. Vinh, the price of a petrol motorbike has decreased by about 30% compared to before but there are still no buyers.

In addition to the store on Chua Ha street, Mr. Vinh also owns a store on Lang street (Hanoi), but it also has more sellers than buyers.

People are now waiting to see what the new directive will be like. In addition to the high-end scooters we are selling, people from the provinces still buy them, but the popular motorbikes that Hanoians use in the city have almost no customers."
