On July 9, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting with agencies and units to deploy the construction of a monument to soldiers from countries that helped Vietnam during the resistance wars at the Vietnam Military History Museum.

This is an important project, to commemorate and show gratitude to experts and soldiers from other countries who helped Vietnam in the wars of national liberation.
The project will be built on a 3,000 m2 plot of land in the Vietnam Military History Museum, including: a common symbol of the help and sacrifice of military experts from various countries, made of bronze and created by Vietnam; a bronze monument to military experts from Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba, designed and constructed by the countries, or constructed by Vietnam at the request of each country; a monolithic green stone relief designed and constructed by Vietnam. The project is surrounded by green trees and grass.
According to the report of the leader of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army), the unit and the Vietnam Military History Museum have contacted leading domestic sculpting experts to research and prepare sketches of statues of 5 countries: Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba.
In addition, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense), the Vietnam Military History Museum and sculptors continue to complete the statue sketch to provide and seek comments from other countries.
The General Department of Politics has directed relevant agencies and units to organize the cleaning, complete the leveling and filling of the road for construction (about 150 m long, 5 m wide); at the same time, concentrate materials, human resources, machinery and equipment to prepare for construction work, ready to deploy when ordered by competent authorities. The General Department of Politics has determined the goal of completing the first cluster of statues to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, emphasized the need to speed up the construction progress of the project, requiring the completion of the first cluster of statues before August 15.
In addition, the entrance area and central campus (about 1,000 m2 wide) - where the statue is displayed - also need to be completed before August 10.
