Building a collective economic model towards linkage and sustainable development

The Provincial Women's Union provided support for breeding animals to the integrated livestock cooperative managed by women in Cam Thach commune.

The women-owned agricultural crop growing cooperative in Thieu Hoa commune was established in 2023, with 20 members. The cooperative was supported by the Provincial Women's Union with peanut seeds, fertilizers and technical process transfer to grow 5 hectares of spring-summer peanuts. After 4 months, the harvest was completed, with a yield of about 60 quintals of fresh tubers/ha, 10 quintals/ha higher than mass production. In addition to growing peanuts, the cooperative grows other seasonal crops such as corn and soybeans during the year. Thanks to commodity production, consumption is quite favorable, agricultural inputs are purchased in large quantities, and households have reduced costs more. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, a cooperative member, said: "With the attention of women at higher levels to support the supply of seeds and fertilizers, and the commune's support in creating favorable conditions for land, women learn techniques, work in a concentrated manner, so the efficiency is more sustainable."

The women-owned agricultural cooperative in Thieu Hoa commune is one of more than 300 collective economic models established by the Provincial Women's Union at all levels, aiming to gather and attract members to help each other produce goods and consume them sustainably. To promote the development of collective economic models, every year, the Provincial Women's Union directs all levels to review and select households to register to participate; coordinate with relevant departments, branches and sectors to guide the process of establishing cooperatives according to the Law on Cooperatives. At the same time, focus on discovering places with conditions for collective economic development, localities with traditional craft villages, conditions for developing livestock and crops and having policies to establish cooperatives to coordinate with local authorities to take advantage of capital sources to stimulate demand and support.

In particular, the Provincial Women's Union has focused on directing all levels of the union, mobilizing resources, and mobilizing members to participate in the development of collective economy. Supporting production members to visit and study economic models inside and outside the province; building booths to introduce products, organizing creative women's days. Particularly from the beginning of 2025 to now, the Provincial Women's Union has organized many activities, such as: forums connecting businesses and cooperatives; training on brand building associated with cooperative development... for thousands of members who are cooperative management boards, cooperative groups and participating members. Thereby, helping cooperatives and cooperative groups improve their capacity to build brands, develop OCOP products, promote and connect consumption for products... As of June 2025, the whole province has 370 collective economy models owned by women, creating stable jobs for more than 4,000 workers and many seasonal workers in the area.

Participating in the KTTT model, households are given trees, breeds, technical training to develop livestock and crops; supported with materials for jobs or part of the budget for households to purchase materials to develop traditional occupations, such as seafood processing, small-scale industry... With this approach, many KTTT models have increased their members from 20 to 50, 70 people, and expanded their production scale and area. KTTT helps women organize production more professionally, while increasing solidarity and mutual support, overcoming fragmented and small-scale production methods, increasing production efficiency and high competitiveness. Many cooperatives, cooperatives, and cooperative groups have developed OCOP products. Typical examples include: Trung Kien small-scale industrial cooperative (Hoang Phu commune); Women-owned handicraft production cooperative (Nga An commune); Huong Que herbal cooperative (Luan Thanh commune); herbal farm (Dong Luong commune)... These startup models create jobs for 5 to 50 female workers and all create 1 to 3 products that are OCOP certified.

Along with the development of the collective economy, the Provincial Women's Union has developed and implemented the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs for female workers in the period of 2022 - 2030" to support members in terms of capital, knowledge, building product brands, connecting to consumer markets... During the half-term, more than 78,000 poor women were assisted by all levels of the union, members, and women in many forms with a total cost of nearly 50 billion VND, more than 2,700 women were supported to start a business, of which 530 enterprises were established by women; nearly 6,000 women escaped poverty, escaped near poverty, exceeding the set target.

Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Hao, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, said: The support of the unions at all levels has encouraged women to enthusiastically compete in labor production, innovate their thinking and working methods, strive to get rich and escape poverty sustainably. Women participating in the collective economic models has enhanced the role and position of women in the family and society. From there, effectively implementing the goals and tasks set out in the resolutions of the congresses of women delegates at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.
