On June 27 in Hanoi, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, had a working session with the VESAMO delegation led by Mr. Chang Ho Ick, Chairman of the Association, on the occasion of the delegation's visit and work in Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Chang Ho Ick said that VESAMO is a people's foreign affairs organization established 23 years ago. In the first years of operation, the Association focused on supporting Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Korea to stabilize their lives. In particular, the Association has awarded many scholarships to Vietnamese students, supported Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families and organized seminars and conferences related to Vietnam.
About 10 years ago, during a visit to Vietnam, members of the Association realized the difficulties that victims of Agent Orange/dioxin were facing. Since then, VESAMO has shifted its focus to supporting victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam.
Mr. Chang Ho Ick shared: “Although our contribution is still modest, thanks to the companionship and support from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations , the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association, and the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, we have completed many volunteer activities over the years.”
He expressed his sincere thanks to the Vietnamese people's foreign affairs agencies and organizations that have always accompanied and created favorable conditions for the Association to successfully implement the goals set out right from the first days of its establishment. "In the coming time, we will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of people-to-people exchange and cooperation between the two countries, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Korea relationship," he said.

Mr. Do Van Chien affirmed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship is a special symbol of political trust, dynamism, sustainability in economic cooperation and deep ties in people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized that Vietnam continues to support the development policies of Korea and is ready to closely coordinate to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, making it increasingly deeper, more substantial and effective, bringing benefits to the people of both countries.
According to Mr. Do Van Chien, the great achievements of the bilateral relationship have important contributions from people-to-people diplomacy, including VESAMO. He acknowledged the active participation of the Association together with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in consolidating and developing people-to-people exchanges, contributing to firmly consolidating the three pillars of diplomacy identified by the 13th National Party Congress: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.
Mr. Do Van Chien said that there are currently about 300,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Korea and nearly 200,000 Koreans living in Vietnam. In particular, about 80,000 Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families are increasingly contributing to the connection between the two nations.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, he expressed his sincere thanks to VESAMO for its good feelings and practical support for the Vietnamese community in Korea, especially students.
Talking to the delegation, Mr. Do Van Chien said that Vietnam is implementing a revolution to organize a streamlined, strong, efficient, effective and efficient apparatus, including the decision to merge and consolidate socio-political organizations and mass associations assigned by the Party and State to be directly under the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
“From July 1, 2025, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will be under the same roof as the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This will contribute to better fulfilling the political tasks of each agency in implementing people-to-people diplomacy,” he said.
He believes that in the coming time, on the basis of the people-to-people diplomacy pillar, the friendship organizations of the two countries, including VESAMO, will continue to have many diverse, rich and practical exchange activities, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

| At the reception, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son expressed his gratitude to VESAMO for always showing good feelings for the Vietnamese community in Korea, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and poor Vietnamese students; introduced the socio-economic development situation of Vietnam. Mr. Phan Anh Son affirmed that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association will continue to closely coordinate with VESAMO and partners, Korean people's organizations to effectively implement the agreements of high-ranking leaders, and enhance people-to-people exchange activities. |
