Applying and building the great national unity bloc according to Ho Chi Minh's thought

In President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, national solidarity is a core content, creating an important mark of his leadership of the Vietnamese revolution, inherited and successfully applied by our Party in the process of leading the people in the struggle for national liberation, carrying out the renovation process, building and defending the Fatherland, realizing the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

Solidarity - Uncle Ho's earnest advice

Among the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese revolution, his thought of solidarity within the Party and building the great national solidarity bloc is a unique contribution, with extremely important theoretical and practical values. From practical experience, he came to the conclusion: In the new era, to defeat the imperialist and colonial forces to liberate the nation, liberate the class and liberate the people, patriotism alone is not enough, the revolution wants to succeed and be successful, it must gather all possible forces, build a sustainable great national solidarity bloc. Therefore, in Ho Chi Minh's thought, great national solidarity is an issue of strategic, fundamental, consistent and long-term significance, throughout his leadership of the Vietnamese revolution. President Ho Chi Minh summarized many truth-based theses on great national solidarity. He wrote: “Unity is our strength. With close unity, we can certainly overcome all difficulties, develop all advantages and fulfill the tasks assigned by the people”; “Unity is our invincible force to overcome difficulties and gain victory”; “Unity is strength, unity is victory”; “Unity is strength, the key to success”; “Unity is the mother point. If this point is implemented well, all children and grandchildren will be good”; “Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success”.

The great national solidarity in Ho Chi Minh's thought includes many levels and levels of interconnected relationships between members, departments, and social forces of the nation, from small to large, from low to high, from inside to outside, from top to bottom... Uncle Ho wrote: Our solidarity is not only broad but also long-lasting... We unite to fight for the unity and independence of the Fatherland; we must also unite to build the country. Whoever has talent, virtue, strength, and the heart to serve the Fatherland and the people, we unite with them. To gather and unite all forces into the great national solidarity bloc, Uncle Ho believed that it was necessary to have policies and methods suitable for each subject. In each period, each revolutionary stage, in the face of different requirements and tasks, policies and methods of gathering forces can be adjusted to suit each social class and each different target group, but the great national unity must always be perceived as a matter of survival, deciding the success or failure of the revolution. The policy of great national unity, as he affirmed: "Solidarity is a national policy, not a political trick".

Uncle Ho's thought of solidarity within the Party as the nucleus of great national solidarity has strategic significance. It is a fundamental, consistent and pervasive thought throughout the Vietnamese revolutionary process. Building the Party into a united and unified bloc is the nucleus for building great national solidarity. In his sacred Testament, President Ho Chi Minh's first concern was to talk about the Party, first of all the issue of solidarity within the Party. He affirmed: Solidarity is an extremely precious tradition of our Party and people. That tradition originated from the tradition of solidarity of the Vietnamese people in the history of building and defending the country, inherited and promoted by our Party in the new historical period. Imbued with the precious traditions of the Vietnamese people, President Ho Chi Minh clearly saw the strength of the spirit of solidarity, especially solidarity and unity within a ruling party, within the leadership core.

Solidarity and unity are the laws of existence, growth and development of the Vietnam Workers' Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam). Only when the Party unites into a unified bloc will it have enough strength to overthrow the forces of oppression and exploitation. Only when the Party unites into a unified bloc will it have enough strength to attract and gather the masses to join the revolutionary front, overthrow the old regime and build a new social regime. In his Testament, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: Thanks to close solidarity and wholehearted service to the working class, the people and the Fatherland, since its founding, our Party has united, organized and led our people to enthusiastically fight, advancing from one victory to another.

In the conditions of the ruling Party. Uncle pointed out: Today, solidarity within the Party is more important than ever, especially close solidarity among leading cadres. When writing the Testament, the first thing Uncle cared about was talking about the importance of solidarity within the Party: Comrades from the Central Committee to the Party cells need to preserve the solidarity and unanimity of the Party as if preserving the pupil of their eye. According to Uncle, solidarity and unanimity within the Party must be based on a unified goal and ideal: "Our Party is great, because apart from the interests of the class, of the people, of the nation, our Party has no other interests"; "Towards the Party, towards the people, we have a glorious duty: to be a loyal son of the Party for life, a devoted servant of the people". That spirit of solidarity must be expressed in the unanimity and unity within the entire Party in politics, ideology, organization, ethics and building of cadres; built and nurtured on the foundation of Marxism-Leninism, guidelines, policies and according to the Party's organizational principles.

To have solid solidarity and unity, the Party must practice broad democracy; Party members must uphold self-discipline, and must practice self-criticism and criticism. In his Testament, Uncle Ho affirmed: "In the Party, practicing broad democracy, regularly and seriously practicing self-criticism and criticism is the best way to consolidate and develop the solidarity and unity of the Party."

Uncle Ho also affirmed that unity must come from the most sacred, profound, and lasting love among communists. He wrote: "Our comrades, although sometimes different in race or class origin, are people with the same ideology, the same purpose, living and dying together, sharing happiness and suffering, so we must be truly united." To reach the goal, it is not enough to just organize, we must also be sincere in our thoughts. Uncle Ho's words are precious and sacred, a national treasure, we must not only preserve them but also strive to fulfill Uncle Ho's wishes.

Identifying plots to sabotage national unity

Currently, the world situation is complicated and unpredictable. Competition among major countries; regional military conflicts are fierce and at risk of spreading. The 4th industrial revolution is developing explosively. There are still difficulties and challenges in the country that need to be thoroughly resolved, such as the polarization between rich and poor, illegal immigration; complicated social evils, and the low proportion of ethnic minority cadres. Hostile, reactionary forces, and political opportunists use all kinds of insidious tricks to carry out the plot of "divide and rule"; they seek every way to divide the great national unity bloc with sophisticated and insidious tricks and tactics in order to sabotage our country from within. In particular, hostile and reactionary forces often incite people, exaggerate and amplify "sensitive" issues in society; take advantage of the fight against corruption, weaknesses in management of authorities at all levels in some places; using tricks to mislead public opinion... in order to make people doubt, leading to loss of confidence in the Party and the regime, and weakening the revolutionary spirit of the people.

They focused on destroying the solidarity within the Party, the key focus of attack on the ideological-cultural front, as the “breakthrough”, “deep penetration” with the plot to disintegrate trust, create a “gap” to gradually introduce bourgeois ideology and move towards “self-transformation” to eliminate socialist ideology, with very sophisticated tricks such as: distorting the basic, scientific principles of Marxism-Leninism in relation to the current socialist practice; denying the theoretical and practical awareness of the most fundamental principles of Marxism-Leninism, creatively applied in our country; denying our nation’s choice of the path to socialism; exploiting the difficulties and shortcomings in implementing the Party’s decisions. They offended the respect of the Party, the State and our people for beloved Uncle Ho; distorting Ho Chi Minh’s ideology as well as his life and career. They slander, fabricate stories, defame and smear officials to create skepticism among the people. They take advantage of disgruntled elements to distort history, distort the truth, blacken the regime, and deepen anti-Party and anti-State ideology. They cause division among ethnic groups. They downplay the role of the Fatherland Front. They want to neutralize the Party's leadership over the army, and divide the Party and the army. The sabotage of hostile and reactionary forces is becoming more and more sophisticated and dangerous in the context of the development of the global information and communication system and cyber warfare.

Within the Party, some places do not properly implement the principle of democratic centralism, loosen the organization of activities, and loosen the management of Party members. Self-criticism and criticism are not serious, and the evaluation and classification of Party members are careless and superficial, making it easy for others to be easy on themselves. Low awareness of discipline has led to many cadres and Party members violating discipline, leading to the risk of disunity within the Party, and also violating the discipline and laws of the country. Some people, lacking political courage, when praised by websites, act arrogantly under the beautiful names of "patriots" and "democrats" without knowing that they are being taken advantage of and become puppets in the hands of reactionary opportunists, sliding down the path of betrayal. Some Party committees and organizations violate the principle of democratic centralism, leaders are arbitrary, authoritarian, forming cliques, causing internal disunity, and higher-level Party committees have not closely directed the review to clarify right and wrong, and strictly handled those with shortcomings. On this issue, Uncle Ho raised an important point: A nation, a party, and each person, who were great and had great appeal yesterday, are not necessarily loved and praised by everyone today and tomorrow if their hearts are no longer pure, if they fall into individualism. Uncle Ho's advice helps us to recognize the decline in political ideology and lifestyle ethics leading to "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" of a number of party members and cadres today.

Tasks and solutions to strengthen national unity

Firstly, proactively and actively thoroughly grasp the Party and State's guidelines and policies on building the great national unity bloc to create a strong change in the awareness, responsibility and actions of agencies, organizations and units. Improve efficiency and continue to innovate, focus on investing more in mass mobilization work, to be ready to "go one step ahead", make people understand, people believe, people support according to the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise, people benefit", so that the Party's thoughts are always in line with the people's wishes.

Second, focus on and promote human resources, arouse aspirations, spirit and will for development, patriotism, pride, compassion, solidarity and consensus of the whole nation. Promote political activism, labor capacity, dedication and innovation of Vietnamese people; enhance the will of self-reliance and self-reliance in each citizen before the fate and future of the country. Attach importance to promoting motivation and developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources, prioritizing key areas; build new, more innovative policies to attract, use, promote and reward talented people....

Third, fully exercise the people's mastery in all areas of life, from socio-economic to political, cultural...; build appropriate forms and organize them carefully so that people can participate in giving opinions on all viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party and State; practically encourage constructive exchanges and debates on issues with different opinions; promote democracy, uphold the law, discipline and order in the whole society; strengthen supervision and summarize the implementation of resolutions and directives, and implement the law on democracy at the grassroots level.

Fourth, focus on protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people, constantly improving and enhancing the material and spiritual life of the people. Accordingly, in all viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party and State, the interests of the people must be taken as the basis, it is necessary to bring "people's talents, people's strength, people's property to benefit the people" and there must be a very good plan to develop the economy and culture to constantly improve the people's lives. Those interests must be expressed through the goals of national independence and socialism; rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization.

Fifth, resolutely fight against plots to divide and sabotage the national solidarity bloc. It is necessary to pay special attention to and raise the spirit of vigilance, civic responsibility, social consensus, awareness, community responsibility, self-reliance, self-reliance in building and defending the Fatherland; fight against all manifestations of narrow-mindedness, localism, individualism... to continuously consolidate and develop the great national solidarity bloc. Synchronously and effectively implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and State, while maintaining the pioneering and leading role of the Party; constantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the State's operations in building and implementing the policy of great national solidarity; continue to innovate the content and methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and mass organizations in a creative direction, truly representing the legitimate rights and interests of the people, serving the cause of developing a strong, prosperous, and happy country.
