In the joyful atmosphere towards the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025), on the afternoon of August 23, in Hanoi , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a traditional meeting representing generations of diplomatic staff.

Attending the meeting were former leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, the Overseas Party Committee, and more than 400 delegates representing many generations of diplomatic staff through the periods. Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son reviewed the glorious historical journey of the Vietnamese Diplomatic sector over the past 80 years - from the early days of the country's independence, through the stages of fighting to protect the Fatherland, to the cause of construction, innovation and deep international integration today.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude for the contributions, dedication and intelligence of generations of cadres who have worked hard to build Vietnam's revolutionary diplomacy. He affirmed that the tradition of "remembering the source of water" is a core spiritual value that is always respected and preserved by the sector, becoming the driving force for today's and future generations to continue writing new pages of history.

In the context of the country entering a new stage of development, the task set for the diplomatic sector is to continue comprehensive innovation, build a "comprehensive, modern, professional" diplomacy, successfully implement the sector's development strategy to 2030, vision 2045, and make practical contributions to the nation's aspirations for strength and prosperity.

In a solemn and warm atmosphere, delegates together reviewed the heroic tradition, shared memories, valuable lessons and expressed their enthusiasm for the country's foreign affairs.

He affirmed that it was these harsh challenges that forged the mettle, dedication and great responsibility of diplomatic staff, becoming valuable assets for the next generation.

At the same time, we believe that in the new period, the diplomatic staff needs to continue to innovate their thinking, improve their qualifications, mettle and foreign affairs skills to be worthy of their pioneering role in maintaining a peaceful environment and mobilizing external resources to serve the country's development.
