As of 11:00 a.m. on August 25, Viettel had dispatched a total of more than 230 broadcasting station rescue teams and 150 fixed broadband incident response teams to the provinces expected to be affected by Typhoon Kajiki. In addition to the local “4 on-site” forces, Viettel also sent additional command staff to directly coordinate storm response.
Late afternoon on August 25, the eye of the storm is entering Nghe An - Ha Tinh with winds of level 12. Quang Tri and Thanh Hoa also have strong winds and heavy rain. In these provinces, Viettel has prepared 24/7 operations teams and prepared 4 on-site solutions to ensure uninterrupted communication.
To ensure the operation of the mobile network in case of power outages due to storms, Viettel has mobilized an additional 380 generators and 904 portable batteries for key provinces. Mobile stations have been inspected to ensure automatic switching of power sources in the event of an incident. Viettel branches in affected areas have prepared reserve fuel, especially in locations at risk of flooding, isolation, and prolonged power outages, to be ready to operate stations that have lost power for a long time.
Regarding telecommunications materials, Viettel has prepared to exceed the reserve level. All 10 provinces/cities predicted to be affected have been fully equipped with welding machines, measuring devices, and satellite phones to ensure the ability to respond to emergency cable lines.
Viettel has coordinated with other network operators to deploy two-way roaming in communes/wards at risk of flooding, landslides or isolation, to ensure uninterrupted communication even in the worst situations.
Since the beginning of 2025, Viettel has consolidated its telecommunications network infrastructure and ensured many backup connection directions for the region. Most of the cable lines are solid cables that can withstand the effects of natural disasters. Key stations in the transmission lines are guaranteed to operate without grid power for long periods of time. The entire Viettel network in the provinces/cities affected by Typhoon Kajiki is digitized on centralized management systems, monitored in real time and applying technology to automatically detect, warn and handle incidents.
Viettel has completed sending warning messages to more than 11.8 million mobile subscribers, advising customers to fully charge their devices, prepare food and water, check for safe accommodation and limit travel during the storm to ensure personal safety and maintain uninterrupted communication.
Viettel also contacted 2.46 million fixed broadband subscribers in 10 provinces/cities about the risk of damage to electronic devices due to lightning strikes, advising customers to turn off the power during thunderstorms.
Customer support solutions for communication packages and free charging points will continue to be deployed by Viettel according to the actual situation in the provinces.
With synchronous and comprehensive preparation from human resources, material resources to technology, Viettel is determined to maintain uninterrupted communication, ensure safety for customers and the community and contribute to social stability during storm No. 5 (Kajiki).
