Operating 60 pumping stations to drain floodwaters and protect agricultural production

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - To minimize agricultural damage caused by storm No. 5 and floods, irrigation companies in the province are actively operating pumping stations to drain water, protect agricultural production and flooded areas.

Dong Kha pumping station is operating at full capacity.

Dan Quyen pumping station operates 24/7.

Cau Khai drainage pumping station operates 10 discharge gates.

As of the morning of August 29, the companies were operating 60 drainage pumping stations with 243 pumps operating continuously. Of these, Song Chu Company Limited had 37 stations with 123 pumps; Bac Song Irrigation Company Limited had 16 stations with 77 pumps; Nam Song Ma Irrigation Company Limited had 7 stations with 43 pumps.

In addition, the units also operate drainage sluices to river mouths to drain flooded crop areas and residential areas.

For the communes of Thach Thanh district (old) that are heavily flooded, Song Chu Company Limited operates 6 pumping stations continuously 24/24 to drain the water. Along with that, 100% of the operating staff are mobilized, ready to prepare a plan when the water level of Buoi river rises.

According to the summary of the Provincial Civil Defense Command, by August 29, due to the impact of storm No. 5, 12,827 hectares of rice; 2,521 hectares of flowers and vegetables; 2,592 hectares of annual crops... had been flooded and destroyed.
