Attending the reception ceremony were Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Ms. Ha Thi Nga, Party Central Committee member, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Party Central Committee member, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; representatives of leaders of departments, units of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, representatives of leaders of 15 banks with large amounts of money supporting the program.
82 billion VND to support the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, said that in response to the call of the Prime Minister and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, units and credit institutions in the banking sector have promoted their exemplary responsibility and pioneering spirit in organizing, implementing and propagating, mobilizing cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers to accompany, support, contribute, and assist in many appropriate forms to help poor households, near-poor households, people affected by natural disasters, climate change, and support families of meritorious people facing housing difficulties, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals of economic and social development, national construction and defense.
In April 2024, at the Prime Minister's launching ceremony of the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Hoa Binh province, 7 commercial banks pledged to support 220 billion VND, of which 100 billion VND was supported through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Next, at the Program to launch support for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide with the theme "Warm home for my people" on October 5, 2024, the banking industry pledged to support 1,000 billion VND. After this program, banks continued to support an additional 145 billion VND for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in localities across the country.
"From April 2024 to now, the banking industry has committed to supporting 1,365 billion VND in funding to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, of which banks have donated 1,100 billion VND. The remaining amount will be disbursed by banks after the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has instructions on allocation of 180 billion VND and provinces and cities provide complete documents to banks of 85 billion VND," said Governor Nguyen Thi Hong.

Also according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, continuing to respond to the emulation movement launched by the Prime Minister and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Banking Trade Union has launched a movement for officials, union members and employees in the entire banking system to support at least 1 day's salary to join the banking industry in "Joining hands to eliminate 1,000 temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide, thereby contributing to helping realize the dreams and aspirations of many families in difficult circumstances.
At the end of the Program, the total amount of money donated by union members and employees of the Banking industry was 82 billion VND, equivalent to the cost of building 1,366 new houses with a support level of 60 million VND/house, exceeding 36.6% of the original target.
"The amount of VND 82 billion donated by officials, civil servants, public employees and employees of the banking sector will be supported by the Program 'The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses' through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front with VND 15 billion and directly support localities with VND 67 billion, thereby contributing to the whole country's goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses before August 31, 2025", Governor Nguyen Thi Hong shared and affirmed that the banking sector is always ready to accompany the entire political system in social security work in general and the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in particular with the highest sense of responsibility.

Efforts to complete the elimination of leaky and temporary houses before September 2025
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien shared that the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front was very moved to receive the donation from the kind hearts of officials, employees and workers in the banking sector to implement the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This is a deep sentiment for the disadvantaged and families in difficult circumstances across the country.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien congratulated the banking sector on its proud achievements in contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring social security in recent times.
On behalf of the disadvantaged people who have benefited from the support, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien sincerely thanked the Party Committee of the State Bank and all officers, employees and workers of the banking sector for their regular attention and support for the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations in social security work.

"This donation will eliminate thousands of leaky and temporary houses. Many poor households will never have a decent, warm house without the support of the Party, the People, the whole society and especially the support of the banking sector," Chairman Do Van Chien shared and affirmed that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is committed to using the donation effectively for the right purpose so that each poor person can overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien said that in order to have more resources to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025, the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam have allowed the use of a 5% budget savings of about 6,000 billion VND for this program.
To date, the whole country only has about 2,300 temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be demolished for the people and those with meritorious services. The whole country is determined to complete the meaningful program by August 31, 2025 to practically celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
