Now, the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households by 2025 is being vigorously implemented in communes in the province, bringing the warmth of sharing and belief in a brighter future to many families.
Nearly a month after moving into their new home, the family of Mr. Bui Ngoc Sang (in Ea Nuol commune) is still filled with happiness. The house is not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also gives the whole family strength to overcome all the difficulties ahead.
Mr. Sang said that 17 years ago, he and his wife saved up for a long time to build a house of about 20 square meters. As time passed, the house became seriously degraded, damp and shabby, but with the money they saved from working to raise their children and take care of their wife who was often sick, the dream of a new house gradually faded away.
Now, thanks to the province's Project to Eliminate Temporary and Leaky Houses for Poor and Near-Poor Households in 2025, Mr. Sang's family has received 80 million VND in construction funding. Relatives and friends have joined hands, and the family has borrowed more to complete their home. "Having a new house has always been a dream of our family, so when it became a reality, we were very happy. The happiest are probably my wife and children because from now on, we will no longer have to cook and catch leaking water in a basin like before," Mr. Sang said emotionally.

Each completed project is not simply a house but also an important milestone, lighting up faith and hope for many lives. The family of Nguyen Trong Xuan (in Phu Xuan commune) is one of 28 households in the area to receive that joy. In 1999, he and his wife saved up to build a makeshift wooden house near the riverbank. Life was precarious, with jobs for hire, the couple struggled to raise their 5 children. Every rainy season, the river water rose, and the whole family was filled with fear and anxiety.
When receiving support of 80 million VND from the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households to build new, safer houses in new places, Mr. Xuan's whole family was extremely happy. Every day, Mr. Xuan came to help with the labor, looking forward to the project being completed soon. He confided: "It is mainly the State's funding, the family only spent a few million more to tile the floor to make the house a little more spacious. Having a house, the family's dream of settling down soon came true."
In Phu Xuan commune, the joy of having a new house has also come to many other households such as: Nguyen Thanh Tung, Ngo Thi Kim Lien, Tran Ngoc Duy, Mai Cao Cuong...; many households are starting construction such as: Do Trong Tuyen, Truong Dinh Hung, Pham Viet Hong, Luong Van Chong, Pham Ngoc Dung...
In order for the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the western part of Dak Lak to achieve remarkable results, it is impossible not to mention the close and synchronous coordination between departments, branches, and especially the joint efforts of the whole community. The Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Police to front over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, units and localities, aiming to build 4,285 houses to give to poor and near-poor households in 2025.
Handing over new houses to household in difficult circumstances in Phu Xuan commune. |
According to statistics from the Provincial Police, as of July 3, 2025, communes and wards in the western region of Dak Lak have built 3,777 houses, reaching 88.1% of the plan. Of these, 2,054 houses have been completed and handed over to households, reaching 47.9% of the plan. In particular, many communes and wards have completed 100% of the plan, typically the wards of Buon Ma Thuot, Tan An, Ea Kao, Buon Ho and the communes of Hoa Phu, Ia Rve, Buon Don, Ea H'leo, Ea Trang... These numbers are not only results, but also clear evidence of the sense of responsibility and tireless efforts for the lives of the people.
The mark of this cooperation begins with meticulous and careful steps: checking and surveying each household; contributing working days to clear the site; disbursing capital on schedule and closely supervising each project. All aim at a single goal: ensure that each house that is built meets the “3 hard” criteria of the Ministry of Public Security – hard foundation, frame – hard walls and hard roof, while also being suitable for the conditions and needs of each family.
According to the plan, 4,285 houses for poor and near-poor households in the West of Dak Lak will be implemented by the relevant agencies and handed over to the people for use before August 15. On the way to the finish line, the new houses are not only physical spaces, but also symbols of humanity, of meaningful social security policies, helping thousands of vulnerable families confidently rise up to escape poverty sustainably.
