Northwest TV staff introduce and sell agricultural products on e-commerce platforms
Up to now, the whole province has 215 products meeting 3-star and 4-star OCOP standards, including many products with strong local identity such as: Cordyceps, Shan Tuyet tea, Lai Chau dried macadamia nuts, round rice, Seng Cu brown rice, Seng Cu rice, Binh Lu vermicelli, Ichiba melon... Not only ensuring quality and food safety, the products have clear traceability addresses, beautiful packaging and labels, adapting to consumer market trends and following regulations. However, OCOP subjects are still cooperative owners, small production households, facing many difficulties in accessing large markets and building sustainable brands. Therefore, the application of digital technology is identified as a breakthrough solution to promote and effectively connect supply and demand.
It is known that the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented activities to support entities with OCOP products to carry out digital transformation. Specifically, it guides the connection of enterprises, cooperatives, and business households to display, promote, and introduce agricultural products at conferences and fairs in provinces and cities across the country; build an e-commerce website, contributing to expanding the market for goods and improving competitiveness. Coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology to bring the province's OCOP products to e-commerce platforms such as: Posttmart.vn (Vietnam Post), Voson.vn (Viettel Post)... Guide and support enterprises and cooperatives with typical products of the province to participate in "Lai Chau Online Booth" to promote the consumption of agricultural products on major e-commerce platforms in Vietnam deployed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade .
In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade also coordinated to organize digital skills training courses, livestream sales, photography, and digital branding for OCOP entities, business households, and cooperatives. Thanks to that, the capacity to access the digital market of units has gradually improved; connecting the traceability system, making product information transparent, increasing consumer trust, etc.
Comrade Pham Ngoc Dang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association and Chief of Office of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee said: In the past time, the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with the Provincial Post Office to open training courses, training, propaganda, and promotion of the e-commerce platform Buudien.vn to members, farmers, agricultural production households, organizations, and enterprises, thereby registering more key agricultural products and OCOP products. The province's agricultural products are supported by the Provincial Community Activity Center to be displayed at the exhibition booth to introduce and support the consumption of OCOP products - provincial specialties. This contributes to changing the way of managing, producing, and consuming products from traditional to modern and smart, with high economic value for units, organizations, and individuals in the area.
Huy Cuong Cordyceps facility, in group 6, Doan Ket ward (with many OCOP products of the province) is focusing on investing in modern machinery systems; diversifying sales channels. Talking with Mr. Dao Huy Cuong - Owner of the facility, we learned that the facility has built and maintained its own fanpage and website to introduce products; promoting business on e-commerce platforms. It can be mentioned that on the TikTok platform - one of the main sales channels today, the facility has set up an online booth with more than 50 products, attracting over 15.3 thousand followers and receiving many positive reviews from customers, most of them reaching 5 stars. Thanks to applying a multi-channel sales strategy, the facility has achieved nearly 1,000 orders/month with an average revenue of 600 - 700 million VND/month, an increase of 50% compared to 2024; creating stable jobs for 50 workers.
Not only stopping at e-commerce platforms, the province also strengthens digital communication about OCOP products through social networks, websites, fanpages, videos, and real-life experience clips, contributing to spreading cultural values and product stories to a large number of consumers. This not only helps increase revenue but also builds the image of Lai Chau as a land with rich products and strong identity.
As the unit honored as "Vietnam's Golden Agricultural Brand in 2024", Ms. Kha Thi Hanh - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tay Bac TV Media and Trading Services Joint Stock Company (Tay Bac TV) in Doan Ket ward shared: Tay Bac TV was established more than 3 years ago, and so far has 4 products that meet 3-star OCOP standards. With the support of the Department of Industry and Trade, we have built multi-platform online distribution and retail channels such as: youtube, facebook, tiktok, zalo, shoppee, website. Currently, Tay Bac TV has developed dozens of KOLs (key consumers, with great influence in the market)/KOCs (influencers) with nearly 7 million followers on the platforms. Created a trend (typical development trend) for smoked meat and is currently ranked No. 1 in fo-ti products on online sales channels.
However, in addition to the achieved results, the application of digital platforms in the consumption of OCOP products of the province still faces many difficulties. Many OCOP subjects have limited digital skills; network infrastructure in some rural areas is still weak, freight costs are high, etc. These are challenges that need to be addressed in the coming time.
Moving towards a new development stage, Lai Chau identifies digital transformation as an inevitable trend and a driving force for the sustainable development of the OCOP Program. The province will continue to increase investment in information technology infrastructure, diversify digital distribution channels, and support entities to perfect products in a professional and standardized manner. At the same time, it will promote links with logistics enterprises and e-commerce platforms to optimize the process of bringing goods from villages to consumers nationwide. With high determination, we believe that the province will realize the goal of building the OCOP brand not only domestically but also gradually conquering the international market through digital platforms.
